  • POSITION SUMMARY: 

    Part of the Youth Education Apprentice (YEAH!) Program, Teen Apprentices assist FAM staff and instructors for summer FAMcamps in June and July. Apprentices will also help welcome visitors to the FAMily Discovery Center and facilitate education opportunities at the Summer Solstice Celebration.

    Work Location:  First Americans Museum, 659 First Americans Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73129-6142 
    Work Schedule: May 27–Aug. 5, 2026. Monday – Friday between 7:45 am and 5:30 pm and availability for Summer Solstice Celebration on June 21. No shifts during the week of June 29. 
    Salary Range:  $10 an hour
    Status:  Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Seasonal
    Reports To:  Learning Division Coordinator 


    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensure classrooms are set up and camp materials are prepared at the beginning of each day, and that classrooms are cleaned at the end of each day. 
    • Supervise and guide campers to different locations throughout the museum including restroom breaks, outside activities, and lunches.  
    • Assist FAMcamp instructors each day with classroom activities and demonstrations. Lead simple activities as directed by supervisor or camp instructors.  
    • Welcome groups to the FAMily Discovery Center and supervises safe play in the gallery. Reports any issues to designated supervisor. 
    • Prepares for, facilitates, and cleans up after a teen-led family activity at the Summer Solstice Celebration. 
       

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Attend regular training and meetings to share updates, concerns, and opportunities for improvement.  
    • Report to each shift in a punctual manner with a positive attitude.  
    • Follow COVID-19 and all health policies and procedures at all times while working at the First Americans Museum. 
    • Other duties as relevant to the position. 
       

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Students enrolled in high school ages 15–18 may apply for this position. Recently graduated seniors are permitted to participate. 
    • Must be able to attend onboarding training May 27–29. 
    • Available at least 15 hours per week through June and July (no camps the week of June 29). 
    • Ability to follow directions and be a team player.  
    • Previous work in museums or First American culture is not required. 
    • Be a positive role model for campers.  
    • Strong leadership and communication skills. 
    • Enthusiastic about working with younger children. 
    • Patient and flexible with those younger than themselves.  
    • Positive team attitude 
    • Punctual (must have appropriate means of transportation to and from FAM)
