2022 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION CRITERIA
Background
The National Council of Negro Women, Inc. was founded by educator and civil rights activist Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune on December 5, 1935. The mission of NCNW is to "lead, advocate for and empower women of African descent". The Brevard County Section was chartered on March 27,2020 and is pleased to offer our scholarship in honor of Dr. Bethune.
Scholarship Details
There will be three (3) Scholarships awarded based on both merit and need. The amounts will vary from the amount of $500 to $200.A student can only be awarded once.
Application deadline is April 30, 2022
Application will be judged by a panel of NCNW Brevard section members. The winner will be notified by the NCNW Brevard Section by May 15, 2022. The awardee may be requested to attend a meeting or event in May 2022 to accept the scholarship award.
Qualifications
The scholarship awardee must meet the following criteria:
- Be a student of African descent
- Be a senior at a public high school in Brevard County, Florida
- Be accepted to a two or four-year university in the Fall of 2022
- Cannot be related to any current Brevard Section members
