The PAWS Cares Community Veterinary Clinic offers exams, core vaccines, flea and tick medication and heartworm testing and prevention, Lyme testing and prevention, spay and neuter services, basic laboratory testing, non-emergency illnesses. We can handle both routine wellness visits and urgent pet care needs.
PAWS provides all veterinary services by pre-scheduled appointments.

At the PAWS Cares Community Veterinary Clinic the health and well-being of your pet, family, and our team members are a top priority.
Please read the following in regards to our processes.
- A Healthy Pet Exam ($40) is required for each pet.
- We cannot do nail trims at this appointment
Pet owners MUST fall into one of the following:
(If you do not receive any of the following, wewill refer you to one of our local veterinary practices.)
- Food Stamps,
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF),
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI),
- Social Security Disability (SSD), and/or
- Maine Care (Medicare, Medicaid)
- I am currently unemployeed and recieving unemployment
- Are a full time student
- I have been referred to us from one of our partner organizations (New Hope Midcoast, Know County Homeless Coailition, Coastal Healthcare Alliance, Penquis, or MCH)
- I adopted my pet from PAWS and do not have a regular veterinarian
- I have a new puppy / kitten and do not have a regular veterinrian
- I have just relocated to the area and have not been able to get into a local veterinary hospital
If you do not qualify as low-income, please understand that the fee will be higher for you, but we are happy to see you pet if you do not have access to a veterinarian.
Please note: To secure your appointment spot, the PAWS Cares Community Veterinary Clinic requires a $40 non-refundable deposit that will go towards your total bill at checkout.
Reschedules and cancellations must be made at least 72 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time if you fail to do so you will forfeit your deposit.
PAWS reserves the right to refuse service to animals we believe are too aggressive or pose a risk to our staff, and/or other animals.
If you have any medical records, please bring them with you.
