• Fee Assistance Application 2023

Thank you for looking to partner with Mount Scopus Memorial College for your child(ren)'s education. Mount Scopus College has a proud tradition of providing an excellent education to the Jewish community in Melbourne - a tradition that has extended to providing fee assistance to many families who otherwise could not afford to send their children to the College.

We recognise it can sometimes be difficult or unpleasant to ask for help and that the application and assessment process is comprehensive.  We also realise that parents have the right to privacy and confidentiality.  At the same time, we want to ensure that our fee assessment processes are equitable for all parents.

It is important to note that most of the fee assistance budget is funded by the parent body -notwithstanding generous contributions from benefactors and a number of charitable organisations, which further strengthens our resolve to allocate this budget fairly and responsibly.

Determinations on fee assistance are made by the College’s Bursary Committee.  A meeting with a member of the Committee can be part of the application process. This meeting helps the Committee to make a proper assessment or to have a more detailed clarification of the application. It also enables applicants to explain aspects of the family's circumstances that may not have come across from the information on the form.

The College’s Bursary Manager and team are available to help you through the application process.  You may also find the answers to Frequently Asked Questions on our website useful Please click to access

Fee assistance determinations are made annually and recipients are required to inform us as and when material changes to their financial (and personal) circumstances occur.  That said, our aim is to work with you as long as it is needed and to ensure that students can complete their schooling at Mount Scopus.

This application can be completed by one or by two applicants.  Where the parents/guardians are together, the application is to contain information of both parents/guardians and each parent/guardian should sign off on the application.  In this case, please choose “2” for the number of applicants.

If parents/guardians are separated but they both signed the enrolment form of the child(ren) -or are required to both consent to the child(ren)’s enrolment-, they also both need to complete a fee assistance application, irrespective of who pays school fees.  However, they can choose to either complete separate applications each (in which case the number of applicants for this application is “1”) or to complete the application jointly (in which case the number of applicants for this application is “2”).

Please be reminded that the application for fee assistance can only be considered by the Bursary Committee once all information for each applicant has been received.

In cases where one parent/guardian has sole responsibility for the child(ren)’s enrolment, we will accept for that parent/guardian to be the only applicant.  The number of applicants for this application is obviously “1” in these cases.
