Everyone wants to take care of the baby, but who will take care of the parents?

mtime gives busy parents their time back by matching them with moncierges, family assistants we train to provide a mix of housekeeping and nannying tasks. However, a moncierge is not just a nanny or a housekeeper. Traditionally a nanny is only there to look after the kids and a housekeeper is there only to look after the home.

A moncierge is there to take care of the wellbeing of the parents. By tackling the things parents would do on a daily basis, such as cooking, cleaning, chores and childcare, a moncierge is able to reduce the stress and overall workload faced by these parents and thereby give them more time to spend with their family and take care of themselves.

  • 🍀 The 4Cs

Our moncierges help parents with the 4Cs:

    • 🍲 Cooking : Most parents put the food on the table every day, but cooking takes a lot of time and energy. A moncierge helps by doing things like:
      • doing the grocery shopping,
      • doing some cooking or meal prep.
    • 🧹 Cleaning : Keeping the house clean and organised is a constant effort. A moncierge helps by doing things like:
      • wiping down benches, cleaning mirrors
      • vacuumming and mopping the floor.
    • 👚 Chores : There are little things around the house that regularly have to be done but also take a lot of time. A moncierge helps by doing things like:
      • Laundry, ironing and folding, and making the beds
      • Feeding or walking pets, collecting parcels.
    • 👶 Childcare : On top of everything, having someone to look after the little ones is a real gift for busy parents. A moncierge helps by doing things like:
      • Pick up/drop off from school or daycare (if and when possible)
      • Minding the kids in the home
      • Sitting with them while they do some homework or activities

  • ✋ Things that moncierges don't do

    • ☝ Only 1 of the 4Cs . Moncierges support the parents by providing a flexible mix of services. They do not provide solely childcare or cleaning.
    • 🧼 Deep cleaning . Moncierges are not professional cleaners. Deep cleaning is a very different service that they don't provide.
    • 🎓 Childhood education . While moncierges can sit with the family's kids and help them with homework or learning activities they do not have the responsibility of as a sole educator.

⌛ How can they do it all?

Well, a moncierge can't do everything at the same time. They follow a task list that is created by mtime using a tailored household manual created for each individual family. The moncierge can then work with the family to keep the family task list up to date over time.

  • 🚪What is the work schedule like?

The work schedule is built around your availability.

    - Shifts are between 7am - 7pm, Monday - Friday.
    - Shifts are with the same family and the same time each week
    - Each family has an average of 7hrs of support per week across two shifts

Moncierges can expect to work with at least 3 families for a total of 21hrs/week - but you can work more or less as suits their schedule.

For example, one family may require you to work for them at 11-3pm every Monday and Wednesday, another 10-1pm Tuesday and Thursday and one other might ask you to do one long session on Fridays 10-5pm. Totalling 21hrs per week of work.

  • 🤝 Commitment

When a moncierge accepts a family, they commit to working with that same family at the same time and day each week, for at least 6 months.

    • 🏡 Families rely on a moncierge's commitment to schedule work, be with their kids, relax and organise their life.
    • 🔔 mtime's backend team relies on this commitment to schedule work, organise payment, and placements for other moncierges.
    • 🙋 Your fellow moncierges rely on this commitment to run temporary shifts and training.

When a moncierge misses or abandons their commitment to a family, everyone will be impacted. Even when mtime can find a replacement moncierge for a family, we can't replace the trust, relationship and reliance built with the previous moncierge.

If you can’t commit to working with a family at the same time and day for at least six months, being a moncierge may not be right for you.
