1.0 Introduction
This agreement governs the relationship between Saint Louis University (“SLU”) and [ENTER HS NAME HERE] of [ENTER HS CITY AND STATE HERE] (“Partner”) for the purpose of the offering SLU’s 1818 ACC Program (“Program”) courses.
2.0 SLU Commitments
To facilitate the administration and ensure the quality of Program courses at the Partner institution, SLU commits to the following:
- 2.1 Full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards of a) the U.S. Department of Education; b) the state in which the Partner is incorporated; c) SLU’s institutional accrediting body, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC); d) any applicable SLU college/school/program-level accrediting bodies; and e) any national or international dual credit/concurrent enrollment accrediting body by which SLU may choose to be accredited.
- 2.2 Integrity in its requirements for and evaluations of faculty qualifications, as stipulated in institutional policy and summarized in the current Program Handbook.
- 2.3 Contracting with qualified Partner faculty to serve as SLU Adjunct Faculty, with all associated SLU rights and responsibilities.
- 2.4 Assignment of SLU Faculty Liaisons (SLU faculty experts in the content and pedagogies of the disciplines/interdisciplinary fields being taught at the Partner institution) to the Partner.
- 2.5 Required and optional annual faculty development/training/orientation for qualified Partner faculty and staff.
- 2.6 Regularly scheduled site visits from Program staff and SLU Faculty Liaisons, which can result in additional recommended or required changes to the respective faculty’s curriculum or pedagogy or recommended or required professional development for Partner faculty and administrators.
- 2.7 Annual Stipends to Partner teachers approved by SLU to serve as SLU faculty in the Program. Amounts/limits are stipulated in the current Program Handbook. Stipends may be paid directly to the 1818 faculty individually, or they may be paid via a lump sum by SLU to the Partner school for Partner to distribute per SLU directives.
- 2.8 Limited funding to support the teaching and/or administration of the 1818 Program at the Partner school, per SLU directives. Examples of SLU-designated uses of funding may include textbooks/materials for 1818 courses, or technology or lab/studio equipment required/recommended by SLU for a designated 1818 course(s).
- 2.9 Limited scholarships at SLU and limited tuition reimbursement at non-SLU colleges/universities, to support the continuing graduate-level education of qualified Partner faculty in disciplines/interdisciplinary fields pertinent to the Program courses taught by the qualified Partner faculty. Amounts/limits are stipulated in the current Program Handbook.
- 2.10 Annual stipends to officially-designated, SLU-approved Partner Coordinators to support the administration of the Program at the Partner institution. Amounts/limits are stipulated in the current Program Handbook. Stipends may be paid directly to the 1818 Coordinators individually, or they may be paid via a lump sum by SLU to the Partner school for Partner to distribute per SLU directives.
- 2.11 Limited funds for scholarships to students at Partner institution supporting their enrollment in Program courses. Amounts/limits are stipulated in the current Program Handbook.
- 2.12 Access to and support from Program staff, including Program Director and all Faculty Liaisons assigned to the Partner. Support includes assistance addressing concerns/complaints from students, parents/guardians, and Program faculty.
- 2.13 Access to and support from SLU administrative offices. Support includes assistance addressing academic integrity issues.
- 2.14 Access for Partner students enrolled in Program courses to the following:
- University Library (limited access to online resources while not on SLU’s campus)
- Student Success Center (tutoring, writing support, etc.)
- Office of Disability Services
- Office of Student Financial Services
- Applicable SLU information technologies/resources/databases/software
- 2.15 Access for Partner faculty to the following:
- University Library
- The Reinert Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning
- Applicable SLU information technologies resources/databases/software
- All other resources and benefits generally available to SLU adjunct faculty.
3.0 Partner Commitments
To facilitate the administration and ensure the quality of SLU’s 1818 ACC Program courses at the Partner institution, the Partner (on behalf of all its teachers, administrators, staff, and students) agrees to:
- 3.1 Full compliance with SLU faculty qualifications requirements and all Program policies/procedures, as stipulated in the current Program Handbook.
- 3.2 Participate fully in all required Program professional development/training/orientation.
- 3.3 Recommend Partner teachers to serve as SLU adjunct faculty to teach Program courses.
- 3.4 Support the application of Partner teachers seeking approval by SLU as qualified Program faculty. This includes, but is not limited to, providing letters of support and copies of academic and/or personnel records (in compliance with applicable laws and Partner policies) as requested by SLU or the prospective Partner faculty.
- 3.5 Provide paid time off and substitute teachers (or the equivalent) for those participating in Program professional development required by SLU (and, preferably, also for optional Program professional development).
- 3.6 Ensure that sections of all SLU courses taught at the Partner institution comply with SLU’s Course Consistency Policy.
- 3.7 Ensure that Partner faculty (a) submit, per schedules established by SLU, the proposed syllabus for each potential 1818 course to 1818 staff and the assigned Faculty Liaison(s) for advance approval; and (b) review their SLU-approved syllabus with students at the outset of each course.
- 3.8 Ensure that all 1818 course syllabi adhere to SLU’s Syllabus Policy and all related requirements of the 1818 Program.
- 3.9 Ensure the administration of SLU-required assessments of student learning.
- 3.10 Support the administration of SLU end-of-course evaluations.
- 3.11 Ensure faculty grade submission deadlines are met; current deadlines are stipulated in the current Program Handbook.
- 3.12 Facilitate and accommodate site visits conducted by SLU Program staff and Faculty Liaisons.
- 3.13 Support the management of enrollment of eligible Partner students (including, but not limited to, high school GPA requirements and SLU course pre-requisites); current eligibility requirements are stipulated in the current Program Handbook.
- 3.14 Advise prospective students, parents, faculty, and staff about participation in the Program, and facilitate 1818 staff efforts to do so at the Partner school and/or remotely.
- 3.15 Ensure that SLU student registration deadlines are met; deadlines are stipulated in the current Program Handbook.
- 3.16 Ensure that Program faculty regularly and appropriately articulate to students, their parents, and Program faculty the dual nature of all Program courses (in terms of credit earned, student academic obligations, student registration obligations, course evaluation requests, etc.).
4.0 Partner Non-Compliance
- 4.1 When a Partner (or one of its employees) fails to uphold any stipulation of this agreement, SLU reserves the right to classify the Partner as “non-compliant.”
- 4.2 Any designation by SLU of non-compliance will prompt a meeting between SLU officials and SLU-selected representatives of the Partner (typically including the Principal, Program administrators, and any related Program faculty). The outcome of the meeting may include (but is not limited to) any of the following: a) requirement for submission to SLU of Partner, instructor, or student data and/or documentation deemed pertinent by SLU; increased monitoring by SLU officials of Partner faculty and/or related course activity for a designated period of time; either immediate or future elimination of a particular SLU Program course(s) at the Partner institution; termination of this agreement.
5.0 Amendment
- 5.1 SLU reserves the right to amend this agreement without advance notice to a) comply with applicable law; b) comply with accreditor requirements; c) ensure the health or safety of any student, faculty, or administrator at SLU or the Partner school; or d) ensure the integrity of the academic program, all as determined by SLU. Such amendments shall be shared with the Partner as soon as possible, and no later than on the date of adoption by SLU. This right notwithstanding, SLU pledges to provide at least 90 days’ notice whenever feasible.
- 5.2 All other amendments to this agreement may be proposed by either party. Upon mutual agreement, such amendments may be enacted by the signatures of both parties.
- 5.3 Unless an amendment is necessary immediately (as determined by SLU, per Section 5.1), any such amendment will take effect on the first day of SLU’s academic year following the academic year in which the amendment was formally adopted.
6.0 Effective Term
- 6.1 This agreement commences on the date on which both signatures are obtained per Section 8.0 below.
- 6.2 This agreement shall remain in force until it is terminated per the stipulations of Section 7.0 below.
7.0 Termination
- 7.1 This agreement may be terminated by either party, for any reason, upon at least 90 days’ notice to the other party.
- 7.2 Unless an issue of health or safety mandates the immediate effectiveness of a termination decision, the effective date of the any termination of this agreement shall be the last day of the SLU-defined academic year in which the termination was adopted.
