    • POSITION OVERVIEW

      The President will serve as a strategic leader and key partner to the CEO, overseeing the organization’s daily operations and ensuring the successful implementation of its vision and mission. This individual will drive organizational growth, operational excellence, and impact by leading teams, strengthening partnerships, and fostering an internal culture of collaboration, equity, and innovation.

      KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

      Strategic Leadership and Organizational Growth:

      • Collaborate with the CEO to refine and implement the organization’s strategic plan.
      • Oversee national and regional initiatives, ensuring alignment with CARES’ mission and goals.
      • Strengthen and expand the CARES affiliate network, ensuring sustainable growth and impact.
      • Serve as a key representative of CARES, advocating for its mission in national forums.
      • Program and Impact Management
      • Ensure the effective design, implementation, and evaluation of CARES mentoring programs.
      • Lead the development of new initiatives that enhance the well-being of Black children and families.
      • Maintain high standards of program quality, research, and culturally relevant approaches.

      Operational and Financial Oversight:

      • Overall oversight of day-to-day operations. 
      • Oversee financial strategy, including budgeting, fundraising, and resource allocation.
      • Work with the development team to drive revenue growth through grants, partnerships, and philanthropy.

      Team Leadership and Culture:

      • Lead, inspire, and support a diverse team of staff and volunteers across multiple regions.
      • Cultivate a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
      • Ensure professional development and well-being for staff and volunteer leaders.

      Partnerships and Community Engagement:

      • Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including funders, corporate partners, and community leaders.
      • Expand CARES’ presence by building strategic alliances with organizations committed to racial and educational equity.
      • Advocate for policies and initiatives that align with CARES’ mission.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      • You must reside in the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) for NYC events. The role is remote.
      • At least 10 years of proven senior leadership experience in a nonprofit, education, social impact, or community-based organization.
      • Passion for and deep understanding of racial justice, mentorship, and Black youth empowerment.
      • Strong strategic thinking and operational management skills.
      • Exceptional relationship-building, fundraising, and partnership development abilities.
      • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
      • Experience leading diverse teams and fostering inclusive work environments.
      • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required.

      COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    • Director of Development 
    • POSITION OVERVIEW

      As the Director of Development, you will play a critical role in supporting and advancing the mission and goals of CARES by leading our fundraising and donor engagement efforts. Reporting to the CDO, you will be responsible for individual giving, annual campaigns, developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies to support our programs, initiatives, and organizational growth.

      KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Lead the advancement and execution of a comprehensive individual giving strategy to meet annual revenue goals and long-term sustainability objectives.
      • Lead individual giving efforts, including annual campaigns, mid-level donor engagement and recurring giving programs.
      • Support the CDO in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift donors.
      • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams to diversify and expand our funding base.
      • Assist marketing and communications in executing fundraising campaigns and collaborating on the development of promotional materials.
      • Collaborate with the Fund Development Team (currently 3) to establish fundraising goals, develop plans and track progress.
      • Manage the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, special events, and donor cultivation activities to engage and inspire supporters.
      • Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities to maximize donor engagement and retention.
      • Maintain and manage the Salesforce donor database, prospecting research, and donor communications to ensure comprehensive donor information and communications are accurately kept.
      • Support the planning and execution of fundraising events, ensuring goals for revenue, attendance and donor engagement are met.
      • Work with staff, volunteers, and vendors to manage event logistics and secure sponsorships.
      • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and initiatives, analyze fundraising data and trends, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
      • Assist the CDO in preparing reports for the Board of Directors and engagement.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      • You must reside in the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) for NYC events and CDO collaborating in NYC. The role is remote.
      • A minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising with a proven track record of success in mid-level and major donor engagement with a track record of securing six or seven-figure gifts and donations.
      • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, philanthropic studies, or a related field preferred.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including donors, board members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
      • Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of fundraising principles, best practices, and emerging trends in philanthropy.
      • Results-oriented with the ability to set and achieve fundraising goals, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
      • Proficiency in donor database management, Salesforce preferred.
      • (For future) Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team, foster collaboration, and drive results.

      COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    • POSITION OVERVIEW

      The Business Manager plays a crucial role in the operational and financial management of the National Cares Mentoring Movement. Reporting to the COO, this position ensures the organization’s resources are managed efficiently, supports strategic initiatives, and upholds compliance with applicable regulations. The Business Manager collaborates with leadership to achieve organizational goals and advance the mission of the organization.

      KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

      Financial Management:

      • Develop and monitor operating budgets in collaboration with leadership.
      • Oversee accounting operations within the Sage Intacct system, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, monitor cash flow and investment activity, and financial reporting.
      • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations.
      • Prepare and present financial statements and reports to leadership and Board of Directors.
      • Oversee annual audit process, including providing audit schedules as needed.

      Operations Management:

      • Manage day-to-day operations, including virtual office management and vendor relations.
      • Manage all financial operation systems, records, procedures, and filings.
      • Implement and optimize business systems and processes to improve organizational efficiency.
      • Coordinate IT and technology needs, ensuring proper functioning and security.
      • Supervise and manage CARES Contracts procedures and policies.

      Grant/Fundraising Support:

      • Assist with back-end grant management and reporting, ensuring all processes are managed within Salesforce
      • Coordinate with the development and program departments to plan budgets for grant proposals and required reports, while tracking restricted income in Salesforce.

      Compliance and Risk Management:

      • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings and charitable registrations.
      • Identify and address potential risks to the organization’s operations and reputation.

      Supervisory Environment:

      • Supervise Assistant Business Manager.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      • You must reside in the Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) for NYC events and team collaboration in NYC. The role is remote.
      • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
      • 3+ years of experience in financial and operational management within a non-profit organization.
      • 1-2 years of Supervisory skills needed.
      • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
      • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
      • Proficient in Salesforce and Sage Intacct preferred.
      • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
