KidsCare Counselor Application

Bethany United Methodist Church located in Summerville, SC has IMMDIATE PART-TIME OPENINGS for van drivers and counselors for their KidsCare program. KidsCare is faith based and provides after school and summer/holiday care for children K-5th grade.

Hours are 1 P.M. - 6 P.M. and is a perfect part-time position for retirees, college students, even for moms with elementary aged children!

The ability to drive a 15 passenger bus is needed! No CDL is required but you must have a clean driving record and be 21 years of age or order. Training and practice is available.

Van drivers, along with another adult rider, will pick up children from DD2 elementary schools and bring them to Bethany United Methodist Church. Once delivered, you will oversee the care of the kids until pick-up.

Then, counselors will:
1. Be assigned a set group of children and a classroom.
2. Assist the children when they arrive and will help them put up their belongings in a secure place.
3. Assist the children with snacks and escort them to the restroom when needed in accordance with Safe Sanctuary Policy.
4. Plan daily devotions and crafts or games.
5. Assist students with homework.
6. Supervise the children during playtime and enforce proper playground and gym rules.
7. Interact with children, not just watch them.
8. Be in the room with the children at all times.
9. Know how many children are in your group at all times.
10. Keep classroom doors open in accordance with Safe Sanctuary Policy.
11 .Clean up classroom area before leaving for the day and return any supplies.
12. Decorate assigned classroom.
13. Encourage the children and make them feel loved and accepted.
14. Be familiar with all emergency procedures and ensure the children’s safety in the event of an emergency.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
