  • PART V. PERSONAL ESSAYS (500 word maximum for each essay)

Q1: In 2023, the US Supreme Court ruled that colleges and universities could no longer take an applicant’s ethnicity into consideration for the admission of potential students, effectively ending the era of affirmative action in higher education. Many businesses with Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives have since followed suit and dismantled their DEI programing. Is there still a need for DEI programs and policies in America today? If so, why, and what arguments would be most persuasive in encouraging businesses to maintain or restart their DEI initiatives?

     Or

Q2:  Birthright citizenship is guaranteed by the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution. Many European, Asian and African countries do not have a guarantee of birthright citizenship. Should the US amend its constitution to do away with birthright citizenship? Why or why not?
