Chronic Wasting Disease Testing
We are working with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) to make Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Testing available on site at Chase's Chop Shop for all deer harvested in the State of California.
CWD has been detected in Inyo and Madera Counties. The Fish and Game Commission has adopted emergency regulations in response to these detections. All hunters who harvest a deer within zones D7, X9a, X9b, and X9c must provide a retropharyngeal lymph node or the head from their harvest for CWD testing.
Chase's Chop Shop will collect a sample using a CWD Surveillance Kit provided by CDFW Bioligists. CDFW will analyze the sample for CWD. The Test results are averaging a 3-5 week return on results. It is at the discretion of the hunter to consume meat with unknown CWD status and all liability lies solely on the hunter.
At Chase's Chop Shop, each animal is processed independently. What does this mean? Some Wild Game Processors will "Batch" several peoples game meat together in order to run larger batches of recipes. While this process makes it easier for those processors, it increases the risk of contamination of CWD as well as general meat cleanliness.
By acknowleding at the bottom of this page you will be signing that you agree that all liability has been released from Chase's Chop Shop.
