Cannabis equity reform can’t wait. It is no secret that the multi-billion-dollar industry was built on a legacy of racist over-policing, yet our policies do little to ensure that the BIPOC communities of Seattle can share in this economic boom.
Washington State led the way for decriminalization and legalization, but it’s now more than a decade behind on addressing the structural inequity of the Cannabis industry. Washington State continues to fail all those harmed by the War on Drugs each day that it doesn’t prioritize reform.
We demand that the Seattle City Council and the King County Council puts the best interests of our communities and our Essential I502 workers first and help us create a more equitable Cannabis industry.
WE ARE PROPOSING:
- Expand and automate expungement of cannabis-related felony criminal convictions
- Fund standardized and accessible cannabis worker training for safety and career advancement
- Community-centered equity fund to lower barriers to access and promote diverse ownership
