• Registration for Moving Tāne

    Mon 18 March - Fri 22 March 2022 Pātaka Art + Museum
  • Young men play a key role in the safety and vitality of their communities. How they experience and explore physicality has a significant influence on their behaviours and how these will be expressed as adults. Moving Tāne is a week-long workshop that supports the growth of strong and healthy young men. Applying the rigor and discipline of movement training, this week-long workshop brings fitness, contemporary dance technique, hip hop and mentoring together. The use of open and constructive communication develops skills, self-awareness and confidence. This workshop uses a Treaty-based approach and is informed by Te Ao Māori. Facilitated by internationally renowned male contemporary and hip hop dancers, participants’ gain an experience of what positive and constructive male physicality feels like.  This workshop can be tailored according to the needs of the attendees. It’s a 5-day workshop that can be run over a single week or over several weeks. It’s intended for young tāne between the ages of 14-24
