TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Safety and Risk Warning
This is a fun activity and you enter at your own risk.
The Currimundi Catchment Care Group Inc. and the Lights on the Lake Organising Group cannot guarantee your safety. Possible risks include injury and/or drowning, due to being hit by other vessels, objects or paddles, or by falling out of your kayak/canoe/boat.
Participants enter at their own personal risk and are responsible for their own physical condition.
Safety Procedures
Each participant should be a competent swimmer.
It is strongly recommended that all participants wear a safety flotation device.
An adult must accompany children under the age of 12 years either in the same vessel or in a partner vessel. Children under 12 years must wear a safety flotation device.
Kayaks/canoes are to be paddled in pairs or threes for safety.
Electric motor tinnies must be skippered by an adult.
Approximate time to complete the course is 20 minutes for short course, 40 minutes for long course.
Officials maintain the right to reject or refuse any entry.
Safety during the Procession
All kayaks/canoes must have at least one light attached.
Stay with your partner kayak/canoe.
If you experience difficulties during the procession attract the attention of the support paddler/ safety boat. Stay in your kayak/canoe/tinnie, wave a light towards the safety boat and wait for assistance.
If the paddler in your partner vessel(s) experiences difficulties stay with that paddler until help arrives.
Any paddler who pulls out of the procession must leave the water with their kayak/canoe, notify the event coordinator immediately and sign off.
Electric motor tinnies must follow the lead boat and must not overtake other boats.
