  • 2023 & 2024 Basketball QLD State Championship EOI

  • Basketball Queensland is calling for expressions of interest from affiliated basketball associations to host the 2023 & 2024 State Championships on the following proposed dates:

    2023 State Championships*

    Under 18 Girls and Boys   11th January to 15th January 2023

    Under 16 Boys                 3rd April to 6th April 2023

    Under 16 Girls                 12th April to 15th April 2023

    Under 14 Boys                 25th June to 28th June 2023

    Under 14 Girls                  1st July to 4th July 2023

    Under 12 Girls                  21st September to 24th September 2023

    Under 12 Boys                  21st September to 24th September 2023 

    2024 State Championships*

    Under 18 Girls and Boys   10th January to 14th January 2024

    Under 16 Boys                 4th April to 7th April 2024

    Under 16 Girls                 10th April to 13th April 2024

    Under 14 Boys                 23rd June to 26th June 2024

    Under 14 Girls                  29th June to 2nd July 2024

    Under 12 Girls                  19th September to 22nd September 2024

    Under 12 Boys                  19th September to 22nd September 2024

    *Dates are subject to being adjusted by BQ.

    Applications close at 5:00 pm Friday 29th April 2022.

  • Minimum Court Requirements

    Please note that there is a minimum number of courts that must be available for use at the event.  This includes second and third venues which are in close proximity to the main venue.  The minimum number of courts required is  set out below:

    State Championship

    Under 12 Girls

    A minimum of 4 indoor courts must be available

    Under 12 Boys

    A minimum of 6 indoor courts must be available

    (may need to extend the number of courts depending on nominations)

    Under 14 Boys

     

    A minimum of 7 indoor courts must be available

    (may need to extend the number of courts depending on nominations)

    Under 14 Girls

    A minimum of 6 indoor courts must be available

    (may need to extend courts depending on nominations)

    Under 16 Boys

    A minimum of 7 indoor courts must be available.

    (may need to extend courts depending on nominations)

    Under 16 Girls

    A minimum of 6 indoor courts must be available.

    (may need to extend courts depending on nominations)

    Under 18 Boys

    A minimum of 7 indoor air conditioned courts must be available.

    Under 18 Girls

    A minimum of 4 indoor air conditioned courts must be available.

    Please note, if an association has sufficient courts to host both boys and girls championships in the same age group together, we will consider this.

  • Please provide Basketball Queensland with an overview of how your Association would deliver a 2023 &/or 2024 State Championship Event. This can be uploaded using the facility below.

    It is recommended that you review the Host Association Guide before completing this form. It is recommended that you include the following information in this document:

    • Number of staff and volunteers working on the event and the roles they will fulfill (you may choose to attach a proposed roster);
    • How you intend managing the No Zone Rule for Under 12 and Under 14 competitions;
    • The services you may provide to teams if any (i.e. assistance with Scoretable, discount vouchers to local outlets, etc.);
    • There will be exclusive access to the venue throughout the championship (i.e. there will be no other activity conducted while the championship is being conducted);
    • There will be ample parking for participants in the championship and spectators;
    • Internet connections to all venues for use by BQ staff to enable management of the competition;
    • Personnel to assist with the capture of images and video for BQ social media;
    • If you will have a person available to sign off on Scoretable accreditations;
    • Presentation of Division 1 grand-finals (i.e. music, entertainment, special guests);
    • There will be a food outlet at each venue, and this will be open at appropriate times with a good variety and healthy food options available; and
    • Any additional information regarding your expression of interest that you believe will be of value to a State Championship.

    Please Note: the event is delivered by the host association. All activities, ideas and opportunities which may enhance the deliverability of the event at your association should be included in this document.
