FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When do RAs need to submit a Night Away Request Form?
- Anytime you want to be out of your assigned hall past 11:59pm.
- Anytime you DO NOT want to be contacted as a Residence Life Staff Member to respond to a Residence Life need (but still be in the hall).
- Anytime you have a class or athletic requirement that requires you to be off-campus past 11:59pm (not counted towards your night away limit if approved AND you have provided documentation from the faculty of that class showing the class requirement ie - syllabus, faculty email, etc/athletic travel schedule).
How is a Night Away Request decision determined?
- Every night we must have a minimum of 50% staff on-campus (frist come first serve).
- Times of historical high traffic outlined in the RA contract and job expectations documents will not be approved.
- If there are consistent behavior issues in the area you advise (floor, wing, etc) your nights away may be denied until a coverage plan can be developed in consultation with your Area Coordinator.
How do I know if my Night Away Request is approved?
- You will receive an email from your supervising Area Coordinator via your rocky email approving or denying any request submitted for the night(s) away; if denied the email will outline the reason for the denial.
- If approved the Area Coordinator will add the night away to the master calendar so the team knows who is out for that night.
