    Fundamentals of Reduction Linocut

    Instructor - Eveline Kolijn

    2 Day Workshop

    Sunday May 1st and 8th, 2022

    10:00am - 3:00pm

Explore the colourful world of Reduction Linocut, a process that has artists printing multiple layers from one linoleum block, removing elements after each ink layer to build depth and detail in their image. Students will learn to use their tools for mark making that render even very simple designs into sophisticated prints. Learn how the reduction linocut process utilises thin layers of ink to create a palette that is sure to bring dimension and impact to your artwork. This class is suitable for beginner and intermediate linocut printers that will cover all the basics and more! At the end of the course each participant should have the knowledge to continue relief printing at home.

    The instructor will cover:

    • How to design a multi layered linocut image
    • Mark making, safe usage and care of linocut tools
    • How to register your block and paper for multiple layers
    • Hand printing techniques and how to print using a press
