  • Honors Class Information & Application

    Please read the Honors Class Information below, accept the terms of the information, and complete the application available on the next webpage/screen.
  • I.  Course Selection:

    • Courses for which a student may select in obtaining “Honors” for an independent project must have the following criteria:
      • Must be a 16 week Redlands course (fall or spring semester).
      • Must get permission from the preferred Honors faculty member.

     II.  Honors Contract:

    • A student may fill out the Honors Contract and submit to the approval process for the Honors Program, which includes approvals from the Honors faculty member and the Director of the Honors Program.  Honors Contracts are due by the end of the third week of a sixteen week semester.
      • Discuss the following with the Honors faculty member prior to completing the contract:
        • Overall project description
        • Project check-in dates
        • Assessment methods (paper, presentation, field work, internship, etc.)

     III.  Honors Contract Approval:

    • After filling out the Honors Contract and submitting it to the Honors Program, the Honors faculty member for the course will approve or deny the application. Upon approval by the Honors faculty member, the Director of the Honors Program will approve or deny the application.

     IV.  Honors Completion:

    • Fulfillment of the following criteria must be met in order to obtain an “Honors” recognition for the course.
      • B or better in the selected course.
      • Completion of the project per the Honors Contract.
      • Approval from the Director of the Honors Program.
  • Honors Contract

    for 16-week courses
  • The Honors Contract is an agreement between the student, the Honors faculty member, and the Director of the Honors Program wherein the student completes an independent project. The successful completion of the contract earns the student “Honors” within the aforementioned section. The independent project provides an opportunity for a student to explore related topics with a deeper level of understanding compared to the regular course curriculum.

    This form is used for requesting an independent Honors project in a Redlands course.

  • Course Information

    The Honors Project must be an independent project for a Redlands credit-bearing course. Non-credit training and courses are not acceptable for Honors credit.
  • Project Information

    Please discuss with your Honors faculty member who will be supervising your Honors project, before completion.

  • I confirm that I have read and understand all of the contract requirements and this proposal meets the standards for the Honors contract process. If the project is to change, of if I decide to not pursue it, I will inform my Honors faculty member.  I understand that this Honors Contract also requires me to earn a final grade of B or better. If the Contract is not completed, the course offering appears as a regular course on the transcript.
