What is Volunteer Work Weekend?

Every Memorial Day, friends and supporters of Oakland Feather River Camp put on their work gloves and spend all or part of their holiday weekend volunteering to help open camp for the coming season. There are many projects to do to wake up camp from the winter and get things ready for the summer.

Volunteers receive FREE stay and meals during the work weekend, and we are happy to announce that dogs are welcome during Work Weekend this year!

All volunteers ages 12 and over are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and to show proof of negative test prior to arrival.

We are monitoring public health guidelines as they evolve and will announce additional information as Work Weekend approaches. Please also plan to bring a face covering for use indoors if needed.

All health and safety requirements are subject to change.
Would you like to request to bring your dog(s)? A limited number of dogs will be allowed on site for Work Weekend. Dogs must meet certain criteria in order to be accepted. Dog requests will be honored on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will reach out regarding your interest and will provide more information.

How many tents/cabins do you require? (4 beds max to tent, 3 beds max to cabin) *
Due to fire marshal requirements, our cabins are limited to 3 twin beds and our tents are limited to 4 cots. Cabins can accommodate up to 4 campers and tents can accommodate up to 5 campers if your family includes young children who can comfortably share a twin bed.
Tent/Cabin Preferences:
As per tradition, tents and cabins during work weekend are filled on a ‘first come – first served’ basis. Campers arriving after 4PM will be assigned a tent/cabin based on the preferences listed.
Most of the work over the weekend involves physical labor like raking and hauling. However, we can usually plan other projects for individuals with specialized experience or skills or those who can only do light-work. Please indicate your party's abilities (Check all that apply): *
