PREVENT Duty
The Approval of Events Procedure sets out the formal process for organising and approving an event (whether on campus, or, in the University’s name including events online or off campus), ensuring safety, ethical and legal considerations are taken into account. This procedure now extends to all meetings, events, activities and protests in scope of the Code of Practice, not just external speaker events.
The new process to log and approve events is now live, streamlining and simplifying the user experience. Events should now be logged via the new events form (available on the Events Forum). Events within the scope of the Code of Practice on Freedom of Speech will prompt an approval request within Microsoft Teams. The decision-making process remains unchanged, with the starting presumption that an event should be approved.
