Guidelines & Courtesy Suggestions
This ministry team is designed to be an occasional support to individuals needing transportation to healthcare appointments rather than a long-term or regularly occurring convenience. We understand that family members and friends may be out of town or unavailable at times, but we do ask that patients make every attempt to secure a ride themselves prior to making a request to the transport team.
Transportation is provided for medical appointments only and is reserved for individuals who are unable to drive themselves as a result of a permanent or short-term disability.
Since this is a 100% volunteer team, it will be left up to the driver’s discretion to decide the length of time and distance he or she is willing to transport for an appointment. However, we do ask that riders be courteous of the volunteers’ time as much as can be controlled.
An advanced notice request for transportation of at least 72 hours prior to the appointment is preferable, if at all possible.
Mileage compensation from rider to driver is not mandatory, but it is welcome as a courtesy of thanks.
Overall, we just encourage good stewardship of this volunteer ministry team, as we are so thankful to be able to offer this as a resource to our congregation and would like to continue doing so.
