Not all questions are relevant to each office. Your honest answers just allow us to understand what values will inform you on the job. NOTE: Read carefully. The questions are framed by people from different political perspectives. It is unlikely that any person would logically choose only "Agree" or "Disagree" to every question.

L1. Abortion providers, incl. Planned Parenthood, should NOT receive funds from federal, state, or local taxpayers via government funding (incl. Title X grants).
L2. I support legislation, perhaps an amendment to the State Constitution if necessary, which strongly restricts the vast majority of abortions and protects innocent life.
L3. I support 'aid in dying' laws, which would legalize assisted suicide, or euthanasia (ie 'mercy killing'). If the existence/non-existence of an unconscious patient's (or patient's family's) explicit consent alters your position, please select a response and explain below.
L4. There are certain crimes so egregious that the state should be able to put that person to death (rather than life in prison without parole) if found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
L5. The unmarried biological father of a child should be legally responsible for child support expenses while the child is in utero, even retroactive after a child is born if paternity is in doubt.
L6. Abortion is a healthcare decision that should only be made by a pregnant woman in consultation with her doctor. The fetus should not have legal rights, and it is nobody else's business.
Are you in favor of any of the following exemptions to a statewide abortion ban?
Imminent (Physical) Threat to Life of the Mother
Pre-Viability, baby unable to live w/ current-state of medical assistance outside the womb (currently ~23 weeks)
Pre-Pain Experience (suggested to be as early as ~13 weeks)
Pre-Heartbeat (heart flutter measurable at ~6 weeks)
Major Fetal Defects (severe birth defects that may limit life expectancy and quality; eg Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Neural Tube Defects)
Minor Fetal Defects (significant birth defects that may limit quality of life, but often can be partially mitigated: even missing limbs, sickle-cell anemia, ...)
Gross Fetal Abnormality (Defects resulting in near certain stillbirth or death by age 2: anencephaly, Tay-Sachs)
Rape / Sexual Assault
Consensual Incest
Sex Selection (sex of baby)
Uncertain Parentage
Financial Hardship
ALL (ie Abortion on Demand)

EDUCATION & FAMILY - How strongly do you agree or disagree:
Strongly Agree
Generally Agree w/ Caveats

EF1. The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool ('(Some) Money Follows the Child' School Choice).
EF2. The LGBTQIA+ agenda’s advocacy for puberty blockers, sex re-assignment surgery in minors, biological males competing on girls’ sports teams, and allowing biological males into girls’ restrooms, locker rooms, and showers threatens the well-being of our community's children.
EF3. Critical Race Theory (CRT), which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist, perpetuates division, is harmful to our society, and should have no place in our schools. It is harmful to teach a child that he/she is a victim based on race, sex, sexual orientation, or any other
characteristic of the child.
EF4. DEI, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion sometimes with Belonging & Access added, are programs from Affirmative Action to targeted tutoring selective for only certain demographics. The state and public orgs should promote these discriminatory programs, because they are meant to address the effects of past discrimination.
EF5. Gender Fluidity, which asserts gender has no basis in biological sex and can be chosen by even prepubescent children, is something that should be accommodated and accepted by schools to make sure that all children feel welcome and safe.
EF6. Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed THROUGH college (ie taxpayers, NOT individuals receiving the education, should bear most of the cost of post-secondary education).
EF7. The formation of strong nuclear families is crucial to the continued success of our community. I support incentive programs, like child (and adoption, or foster care) tax credits and early childhood tax breaks, with the intent to promote families having more children.

RIGHTS & RELIGION IN PUBLIC LIFE - How strongly do you agree or disagree:
Strongly Agree
Generally Agree w/ Caveats
No Clear Opinion
Mostly Disagree w/ Exceptions
Strongly Disagree
R1. Biblically-derived values establish a framework of morality which is essential for the appropriate functioning our system of limited government and society at large.
R2. The government should be allowed to close houses of worship, or restrict free & public exercise / expression of religion, if it is meant to serve a clear public good like keeping people safe.
R3. Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. NO government should have the authority to alter this definition, though they may construct other legal partnerships.
R4. Individuals and businesses should be required by the government to provide services to all, even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs, if denying services could be interpreted as hateful or non-inclusive of some "marginalized group" in society.
R5. Businesses, or sometimes even the government, should regulate speech that some people deem "hateful" in order to promote the feeling of inclusion and/or community for anyone that might feel 'attacked or insulted' by that speech.
R6. Amending the US Constitution via an Article V (ie 5) Convention of the States would create risks to our fundamental rights that are far greater than any potential benefit.
R7. Excluding religious people, like Pastors, from certain jobs in the public sector is both constitutional and important to maintaining a separation between church and state.
R8. Medical professionals should be able to decline to perform certain procedures (eg prescribe emergency contraceptives or puberty blockers, or perform abortions) if doing so would genuinely violate their sincerely held religious beliefs, without facing employment discrimination or penalty.
R9. It is important for local gov't to
establish 'local control' by
creating legal barriers to, and public servants refusing to comply with, the enforcement of state laws when their local constituents mostly don't support those state laws and/or see them as violating their rights.

POLICING & FIREARMS - How strongly do you agree or disagree:
Strongly Agree
Generally Agree w/ Caveats
No Clear Opinion
Mostly Disagree w/ Exceptions
Strongly Disagree
PF1. Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct as long as it is consistent with departmental policy (ie qualified immunity) while on duty.
PF2. I support redirecting a significant amount of funds from police departments to mental health and community programs, because this is more likely to address the root causes of crime.
PF3. The families of the victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers directly for making these deadly products, even if there was no manufacturing defect or violation of sales laws and regulations in doing so.
PF4. Rather than going wherever crime is most likely or apparent, policing should be 'community responsive', with community representatives having the power to determine their tolerance level for police (how, and how much, the police interact with them).
PF5. Technology is rapidly expanding the ability to surveil the citizenry. Even without a warrant, police should (or contract with companies to) video monitor most public areas, use AI facial recognition & people tracking software, search private (ancestry or medical) DNA databases, and generally take any currently legal measure possible to ensure people follow the law and the community is safe.
PF6. We need more 'common sense' gun legislation and state & local sheriffs should do all they can to assist in the enforcement of any federal firearms laws or investigations.
PF7. Kentucky's civil asset forfeiture laws allow property to be seized without a conviction, or sometimes even a day in court if a 3rd party's property is used in commission of a crime. Law enforcement keeps almost all of these forfeiture proceeds. This seizure of a person's property without the right to jury trial is governmental
abuse of power.
PF8. We should show lenience for people under the age of 18 who commit serious crimes. Childhood mistakes, even when they harm others severely, should NOT keep a person from possibly righting the ship and becoming a productive citizen.

TAXES, BUDGETS & OTHER - How strongly do you agree or disagree:
Strongly Agree
Generally Agree w/ Caveats
No Clear Opinion
Mostly Disagree w/ Exceptions
Strongly Disagree
T1. Taxes should be raised in order for the government to create, or significantly expand, programs that benefit most of my community, and to create a stronger public social safety net for the most at risk in our community.
T2. A balanced budget is essential. If revenues cannot cover expenses in the short term, then the government should reduce services & cut personnel until revenue increases (not accumulate debt), rather than raise taxes.
T3. Many historical wrongs have occurred (even with government sanction) toward certain groups of people. To create a more equitable society, the current/future government (or businesses) should try to correct any perceived lingering consequences of this by giving preferential treatment, including economic benefits, to only some groups of people (eg reparations or "affirmative action" should be given to people on the basis of race or sex).
T4. To promote a better functioning and more equal society, the government should look to implement policies that specifically aim to redistribute wealth from those who, through their own efforts, have accumulated more to those who have accumulated less.
T5. To finance the government, certain "vices" can and should be commercialized and regulated. People will find a way to do them, make them regulated and help fund important societal benefits as well (gambling, tobacco, alcohol, drugs).
T6. The government should be able to seize property, with compensation, if it determines that it is in the overall community's best interest, even if it (perhaps even directly) benefits some citizens or companies more than others.
T7. The primary consideration for the level and type of immigration, or even incentives for outside investment projects, that we allow into our community should be how much it benefits, or costs, the people who live here already.
T8. It is wrong for taxpayers to have to pay to support able-bodied people who don't want to work, but even support people who can't (or won't) find a job that pays enough to support themselves and/or their children. It is better to cut them off and make them fend for themselves, rather than become dependent on the gov't.
T9. While the public has a right to know about most of the final decisions made by elected officials and public servants, allowing them to know about the steps and discussions that led to those decisions too often intrudes on those people's privacy and should be off limits.
T10. There are certain (signature) business that are important enough to our community that the gov't should regulate industries in such as way as to keep American (profit and non-profit) competitors from possibly reducing these businesses' profits.

Which most closely matches your view on healthcare:
A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government (tax payers) with no private healthcare option (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.)
B) Healthcare insurance at least partially funded by the government (tax payers) should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options.
C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary, and those should be tightly monitored for need and fraud.
D) Tax-payer funded health care should be very limited (even perhaps abolished) in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be significantly de-funded, to avoid the massive increase in public debt.
ROLE OF GOVT: Please summarize your general philosophy of the appropriate role of government. If you could change anything: What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget? What changes might you make to the tax code? Would you instead prefer to increase certain taxes rather than reducing spending? If so, which taxes?
BELIEFS AND VALUES: What life experiences have helped solidify your beliefs? Briefly describe your spiritual (or religious) beliefs and values.
VACCINE MANDATES & MEDICAL FREEDOM: Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer, be allowed to require vaccinations, or to close churches, or private businesses, for failure to require them? When should a person's ability to refuse (or request) any medical treatment be restricted?
PROSECUTION OF CRIME: What role is there for punishment as a factor in judicial sentencing? How much prosecutorial discretion should be allowed in offering plea agreements, charging decisions, and making sentencing recommendations (vs mandatory sentencing)?
ELECTION INTEGRITY: Which (local) elections do you believe should be partisan (judges, school board, mayor, city council, sheriff, etc.)? What are your opinions of Voter (Photo) ID requirements, early in-person voting, and mail-in absentee voting? What are your thoughts about returning to hand counting of paper ballots vs electronic counting?
CRIMINAL HISTORY: Have you ever been convicted of a felony? Have you been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? Have you ever resigned a position of official public service, including any elected or gov't (paid or unpaid) position? Are you currently under investigation by the Bar Association, or any other Professional Society? If so, please explain.
WHO ARE YOU, WHAT MOTIVATES YOU: What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities (for instance, your family background, why you are running, ...)?
