Looking for Volunteers

Please consider volunteering to assist with the children's faith formation program at Blessed Sacrament Church.  We welcome and encourage parent and parish participation in order to provide students with the best faith formation experience possible. We rely on the generosity of many volunteers.

In whatever capacity you are able to volunteer, you will be a blessing to the program. Please consider volunteering at least one hour of your time during the school year.

Blessed Sacrament Church complies with the Diocese of Metuchen Protecting God’s Children program to provide a safe environment for all children. Any volunteer, 18 years of age or older, must be screened through the Diocesan program. Volunteers are required to be fingerprinted, fill out a volunteer application form and attend a training workshop.

Catechists, co-catechists, aides, and hall monitors will receive discounted tuition except for a sacramental fee, if applicable. There are many options where you can volunteer:  Classes are held Sunday 8:30-9:30 am (Grades 1-8), Monday from 5:00 to 6:00 pm (Grades 1-4), Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 pm (Grades 5-7) and Tuesday 8th grade 6:30 to 7:45 pm, twice a month.

Catechist:  Willing to give your time and talent and share your faith with conviction, joy, love, and enthusiasm. Training and support will be provided. Teaching experience is not required.

Co-Catechist:  Work with another co-catechist to teach the students.

Catechist Aide:  Be willing to assist the catechist on a weekly or rotating basis and possibly gain skills to teach in the future. Responsible middle and high school students will be considered for this position.

Substitute:  Substitutes are needed for all volunteer roles. This is on an as-needed basis.

Hall Monitor: Assist in the Parish Center hallway. Assist with and maintain class attendance.
