CENTS-ABILITY: FUNDING REQUEST FOR A HUNGER-RELATED PROJECT Logo
  • Cents-Ability – A Presbyterian Hunger Program

A Strategy for Raising Awareness & Funds in the Fight against Hunger
  • Cents-Ability is a small step in the battle against hunger and poverty. Congregations invite every member — of all ages — to contribute a few cents at every meal. This simple act is an expression of thanks for what we have received. It is also a commitment to share with others in response to Jesus’ command “You give them something to eat.”  Members bring their offerings to Church on the appointed Sunday, all of those coins “making a joyful noise unto the Lord” as they are received and dedicated. Once sent to the Presbytery of Grand Canyon, these generous offerings are distributed for hunger-related projects to either Congregations or Community Organizations serving within the geographic boundaries of the Presbytery. These projects must be food related and include, but are not limited to, Served Meals; Food Boxes and Gift Cards for Food Purchase.  Funding decisions are made through an application process overseen by the Peace & Justice Network. Projects are usually funded in the range of $500.00 - $900.00. Applying for funding does not guarantee that the Hunger-Related Project will be funded.
