PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The National Association for the Prevention of Starvation (NAPS) has acquired Katahdin sheep from Edenland Farm with the purpose of providing sheep to qualified beginner farmily farmers. Priority will be given to families in the Black Belt regions of Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. This program is intended to assist beginner farmers in the Black Belt region to start a Katahdin sheep breeding business. It is also designed to educate and train young people to become entrepeneurs in the farming business. 12 families will be awarded. The awardees will be notified no later than July 6, 2022 and a list of awardees will be posted on NAPS webiste, www.napsglobal.org. The application is simple:
AWARDED APPLICANTS WILL RECIEVE THE FOLLOWING:

Two katahdin ewe lambs

One sheep dog if needed and available
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

Must submit application and reference letter no later than June 8, 2022

Must be a beginner farmer

Must have children in household ages 15 years and/or younger

Must have at least 3 acres of pasture land securely fenced

Must have an animal shelter for livestock to sleep in
