Scholarship Information Rules and Guidelines

1. One scholarship will be awarded based on consideration of academic achievement, hockey dedication, commitment and coachability. The Scholarship awarded must be applied for within one year of its acceptance.

All U18 players are eligible to apply for a SAMHA scholarship; however, all applicants:

a) Must be a resident of St. Albert or within the boundaries contained in section 1.11 of Player Eligibility and Boundaries

b) Should have played within SAMHA for at least five years.

c) Should be in last year of U18 eligibility.

d) Must have demonstrated a satisfactory attitude and effort in high school subjects.

e) Overall ability in hockey, specifically related to respect, sportsmanship, team play, attitude and dedication to the game.

Applicants must provide three character reference letters, one from each of the following fields:

a) Education

b) Hockey

c) General character reference

2. A letter of acceptance from an accredited post-secondary institution is required from each applicant before a final decision is made. Scholarships will be awarded in the fall of each year.
