Terumah: Gifts from the Heart

Last year, we secured $103,445 in terumah / pledge income from: 143 total individual members (76 renewing households + 26 new households). We also raised $4,244 in tributes and memorial contributions.

This year, as we work to maintain the staffing and programming that we’ve come to love, we are asking that each member dig a little deeper to support the shul.

As we are aiming to collect $130,000 in pledge income, we’re asking those who are able to consider a $1,000 per adult annual pledge. To fully cover our proposed costs, each adult member would need to pledge $1,500. If you have the means, we ask that you contribute more than this requested amount.

We recognize that income levels and relationships with money vary greatly within our community, and that contributing this amount may not be feasible for you. We do not discriminate based on pledge contributions -- you are not a second-class member for pledging lower than this amount! -- nor do we rescind membership status if you end up contributing less than your expressed pledge.

That said: It is vital for us to collect funds to ensure the sustainability of our community and fair compensation for our employees. Please consider our ask for a $1000 per adult pledge, and contribute an amount that is attainable for you. Every bit helps!

T'chiyah members work to co-create our meaningful, dynamic spiritual community through involvement with programming and committee work. How do you plan to be involved this year?

This year, I am interested in finding ways to support the following work areas:

Chesed: Coordinating care and mutual aid for congregants Kehillah: Social initiatives/programs to build and sustain member connections Limmud: Building empowering Jewish learning, study groups, and educational programming Ruach: Service planning/leading, songleading, and ritual work Shefa: Cultivating resources/strategizing for financial sustainability Tzedek: Pursuing justice within our congregation & as a congregation
