Nuit Blanche Regina is a free, accessible, after-dark arts festival in Downtown Regina showcasing large scale public art installations and performances on Saturday, August 27, 2022 (www.nuitblancheregina.ca). This outdoor event transforms the city's downtown into a multi-authored, multi-media artscape from sunset to midnight. Audiences of all ages are invited to explore the site-specific installations that are inspired by artistic intervention with the urban environment.
Nuit Blanche Regina celebrates both emerging and established artists working in new media technologies, performance, dance, sculpture and traditional arts. Selected artists will temporarily install or perform their work and engage with audiences. Individuals, artist collectives and school groups are encouraged to apply to present their work.
Successful Applicants will:
- Create a contemporary artwork in public space that engages a broad audience through artistic excellence.
- Display their proposed artwork between sunset and midnight on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Performance-based work to take place at scheduled times throughout the night.
- Provide their own materials and equipment for production and installation.
- Receive an artist fee of $950. A limited amount of additional funding may be available for larger projects. Please include a detailed budget if applying for funding over $950.
- Attend a test run-through two weeks before the event.
Artwork Requirements:
- The project is site-specific.
- The project includes a component of light and is viewable in total darkness.
- The project is LARGE in scale or can be viewed easily from far away.
- The project is suitable for all ages and accessible to all people.
- The project is installable and removable without damage to any property.
- The project is able to take place in inclement weather.
- The project encourages social distancing and the safety and well-being of others.
