TALENT INTRO VIDEO
This is a guide for you to use to create your talent intro videos. An iPhone, iPad or Android phone/tablet will work just fine for this as long as you follow these simple guidelines. Feel free to be creative! Make sure you do not submit this until your talent request has been approved.
TALENT INTRO VIDEOS MUST NOT EXCEED 20 SECONDS!
Framing the shot
- The video should be shot in Landscape orientation NOT Portrait. This means your camera should be sideways while recording.
- If you have help, it is best to use the rear-facing camera (non-selfie camera) as these generally have a better resolution.
- Try to keep the phone, iPad, etc, steady when recording. If you have a way that you can secure the camera so it doesn’t shake like a tripod; it will make the video quality better. If the camera must be held, it is best if the operator uses two hands to increase stability.
Lighting
- Natural lighting is great. Make sure everything is well-lit to improve the video quality.
- Face the light source with the light coming slightly from one side or the other (about 30-45 degrees of center). Try to avoid a light source that is directly in your face. Also, avoid excessive light behind you, as this can create a silhouette effect.
Audio
- Find a QUIET place to record with little to no background noise. Keep this in mind if you’re outside!
- Background noise can be radios, TVs, fans, traffic noise, siblings, other family members, etc.
- Speak loudly and clearly to get the best possible audio recorded on the device.
- The closer you are to the camera/microphone, the better the audio quality.
Set
- Keep in mind the background you choose. Ensure there is nothing in the background you don’t want people to see.
- You cannot have anyone else in the video.
- You can have fun with this and be creative!
Video Resolution
- Videos should be recorded at 1080p HD and 60 fps if possible.
- To make sure your camera is set correctly…
- iPhone, iPad – Open the Settings app. Tap Camera, then tap Record Video. Select 1080p HD at 60 fps from the video formats and frame rates listed. If, for some reason, you do not have 1080p HD at 60 fps, choose 1080p HD at 30 fps.
- Android devices – In the Camera app, tap Settings. Select Video size or Video quality as 1920x1080 (16:9). All Android device settings are in a slightly different place, so you might have to search for them.
- Do NOT use any filters while recording.
- File format must be .mov or .mp4 Avoid devices that record in .flv file formats.
