Dr. Donald and Catherine Drolett were dedicated to Catholic education. Their children, Anne Drolett Creany and Douglas Drolett attended Catholic schools in the Lansing area. Dr. Donald Drolett was an obstetrician and served as chief of obstetrics at both St. Lawrence and Edward W. Sparrow Hospitals. Mrs. Catherine Drolett was a graduate of St. Lawrence nursing school where she met the dashing Intern, Don. They married shortly before he left to serve in Europe during World War II and enjoyed 51 years of married life. This scholarship is a gift from their daughter, Anne who wishes to inspire Lansing Catholic High School students to pursue a career as a physician or a nurse.

    St. Gianna Molla

Gianna Beretta was born in Milan, Italy in 1922. Already as a youth, she willingly accepted the gift of faith.  As a result, she experienced life as a marvelous gift from God, had a strong faith in Providence, and was convinced of the necessity and effectiveness of prayer.

After earning degrees in Medicine and Surgery, she opened a medical clinic giving special attention to mothers, babies, the elderly, and the poor. Through her prayers and those of others, she reflected upon her vocation that she considered a gift from God. She later chose the vocation of marriage, embraced it with complete enthusiasm, and wholly dedicated herself “to forming a truly Christian family.” With simplicity and equilibrium, she harmonized the demands of mother, wife, doctor, and her passion for life.
