    Thank you for your interest in applying for the YAP State Committee. Applications are being accepted for the class of 2029 (term starting September 2026 through the 2029 Winter Leadership Experience). Below are the instructions for completing this application as well as the eligibility requirements. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and be an Ohio Farm Bureau member in good standing. Applications are due no later than Friday, May 1, 2026. All applicants will be notified by July 31, 2026, regarding the status of their application. 
  • Eligibility & Overview

    1. Applicant must be at least 18 years old at the time of application and must not have reached their 35th birthday before December 31, 2026. 
    2. Applicant must be a current Ohio Farm Bureau member and active in their county Farm Bureau.
    3. Applicants applying as a couple must be in a union recognized by the state.
    4. Applicant must be from a county not currently represented on the committee.
      1. Members from the following counties are currently ineligible to apply for the YAP State Committee as there is currently representation on the Committee: Athens-Meigs, Clermont, Hardin, Ross, Stark, Washington, Wayne, and Wood.
    5. Applicants are ineligble to apply if they have previously served on the YAP State Committee.
    6. Members are not eligible to participate in YAP contests while serving on the YAP State Committee.
    7. The top six applicants will be invited to participate in a virtual interview which will occur on Wednesday, May 27th between 10 am-noon. Interview appointments within that two hour window will only be scheduled about a week in advance, so if possible, please hold those two hours until you hear about your application status.

  • YAP State Committee Responsibilities

    • The Young Ag Professionals State Committee suggests, develops, and conducts activities that provide opportunities for young couples and singles to become involved in the programs of Ohio Farm Bureau (county, regional, and state levels). Young singles and married couples ages 18 - 35 are generally regarded as eligible to participate in OFBF Young Ag Professionals activities. The American Farm Bureau Federation's age limit for the Young Farmer and Rancher program is also 35 years of age.
    • State Committee members serve as Young Ag Professionals' resource leaders to Farm Bureau and actively recruit and encourage Young Ag Professionals' participation in Farm Bureau activities.
    • The committee works with the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation staff to fulfill responsibilities.
    • Planning and conducting Young Ag Professionals conferences, contests, and activities is a major portion of the committee's responsibilities as well as involving Young Ag Professionals in Farm Bureau activities in your region and county.
  • Meeting Dates & Attendance

    Members are expected to be present at all meetings and activities conducted by this team. The Class of 2029 committee term will begin on September 1, 2026, and conclude at the 2029 Winter Leadership Experience.

    Anticipated upcoming 2026 committee meetings are as follows:

    • August 12, 7:00-8:30 pm: New Committee Orientation 1 - Virtual
    • August 26, 7:00-8:30 pm: New Committee Orientation 2 - Virtual
    • September 18-19 (5pm tentative start on Friday): YAP State Committee Meeting - Columbus, OH
    • December 9 evening: YAP State Committee Meeting - Columbus, OH
    • December 10 through lunch: Ohio Farm Bureau Annual Meeting

  • Leadership Experiences

    Serving on the YAP State Committee provides you an opportunity to learn and grow as an individual both personally and professionally. In this position, you may also be asked to serve as an ambassador for Ohio Farm Bureau and represent the Young Ag Professionals program at various events. Please share your leadership experiences that have equipped you to serve in this role.

  • Availability

    All application will undergo a blind review by a panel of qualified OFBF staff members. After the applications have been reviewed the top applicants will be selected to partake in an interview with program staff. A recommendation will be submitted to the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Board of Trustees in early June. Pending their approval, an announcement will be made in late June of the newly appointed State YAP Committee members.
