What experience have you in identifying birds (select one only)
Beginner. I can recognise birds typically seen in my garden.
Intermediate. I have some experience identifying birds visually and would be familiar with the birds I'm likely to see at Baldolye estuary and environs.
Expert. I am an experienced birdwatcher who can identify birds visually and by song.
Professional. I am professional or student working in zoology, botany, mycology, ecology, marine, environmental studies or wildlife field.
School Group. I am a teacher who has taken my class out to do a group count. The more eyes the merrier.
Select where you will be doing your counts from
Select only one option for your count. Some are stationary observations [SO], others are walks [WK]. If choosing a Walk you don't need to make separate submissions for Stationary Observations along the walk; for example - if walking the greenway (9), include bird counts at the Mayne bridge (10) as part of the Greenway Walk count (9). This way, you only have to make one count submisison rather than two or more.

I'm only going to count the number of birds I see of just one type. Just enter one count in the Bird Count form.
I'm going to count as many of the birds that I can recognise.
Bird Counts
If you see a bird but can't recognise it - don't count it, no need to guess :) An editable table is avalable should you wish to submit your counts manually instead. Similarly, if bird numbers are large, make a best estimate of numbers - but if too difficult to estimate then leave the count out. If counting as a school group, split the class up into pairs and have each pair count a single bird species; a group count can then be submitted on return to class when counts are collated.
Enter your bird counts (room from cell 95 to add non-listed bird counts). Where possible, I have tried to list the more easily recognisable birds at the start. If you choose to only count one bird type, enter a zero next to the bird if you don't see any.
Use this table to enter custom bird counts and/or birds not listed above. Also, please use this form to include other animals like rabbits, foxes, insects, frogs, fungi etc you see. No need to include the sheep or Highland cows though :)
