  • Have you ever had to relinquish or rehome a pet before?*
  • Are your pets up to date on their vaccinations?*
  • If you currently have dogs/cats, are they spayed or neutered?*
  • Training a rescue dog

You are applying for a rescue dog which means that this animal has an unknown past. As a result of their unknown past, these dogs can potentially regress for a period of time after adoption because of all the changes which leads to stress.  They can have temporary issues with potty training, social anxiety, separation anxiety, or food aggression.
  • Most of these behaviors are *temporary* and will resolve as the dog becomes more comfortable in his or her new home.

  • While neither we nor our fosters are certified trainers, we do our best to find out as much as we can about our pups and their behaviors while they are in foster care, but all of our dogs will at least require minimal training.  Others may require more extensive/intensive training to curb unwanted behaviors.

  • Rehoming Questions

  • Which of the following reasons might prompt you to return or rehome your dog?*
  • Thank you very much for your interest. We cannot guarantee that any of our shelter pets are house-trained and may have accidents while they are getting used to your home and routine. El Paso County Canine Rescue does not place animals on holds for any reason. Your signature confirms that you have read the above information carefully and have filled out this application honestly. You understand that omission of information and/or failure to answer all questions and sign the application can result in this application being declined. Also, if an omission or untruth is discovered after an adoption takes place, you understand that El Paso County Canine Rescue reserves the right to annul the adoption and reclaim the animal.
