  • About the Application Process

  • ENTRIES

    All applications must be received by Sunday 26 June 2022. A completed application includes:

    • this application form completed in full.
    • payment of an $11.00 entry fee (payable below).
    • booking an artwork drop-off appointment. You will be automatically directed to the booking form after you submit this form. Note: artwork is dropped-off for review by a selection panel and appointment dates commence from mid-July 2022. 

     

    ELIGIBILITY

    Exhibiting artists need to identify as having either: a personal lived experience of mental illness, being a family member/carer or providing voluntary support to someone with a lived experience.

    For artwork to be an eligible entry, it must:

    • not exceed 120cm in either length or width inclusive of frame and weigh less than 5kg.
    • hang safely/securely and be fitted with D ring hangers 100mm from the top of the work and wire or picture hanging cord (polyester).
    • have a reasonable sale price and not be listed as ‘not for sale’ or ‘by negotiation’.
    • be clean, undamaged, finished, presented to a high standard, either framed or stretched onto canvas and not have been exhibited before at a Recovered Futures Art Exhibition.
    • be original and not considered offensive or inappropriate, aligning with the values of the exhibition.

     

    PRE-SELECTION

    All entries submitted will be presented for review by the Curator and supported by a selection panel, from which works will be selected to exhibit. Artworks will be selected based on eligibility criteria and curatorial considerations including but not limited to concept, workmanship, originality and exhibition fit. Once the pre-selection process has been completed, all entrants will be advised of the outcome at the end of August 2022. The selection panel and Curator’s decisions are final and no further correspondence will be entered into.

     

    PARTICIPATION IN THE EXHIBITION

    Artwork selected for the exhibition will be showcased from Saturday 8 to Thursday 13 October in Brisbane City Hall and King George Square and then online until Sunday 30 October. Return of unsold works will occur early to mid November.

  • Section 4. Artwork Drop-Off Appointment

    Booking an artwork drop-off appointment is required as part of your application. Once you submit this form, you will automatically be directed to complete your booking online and select a day/time at your nearest RFQ location. Locations include: Aspley, Bundaberg, Capalaba, Herston, Ipswich, Logan, Maryborough, Redcliffe, Southport, Toowoomba and Yandina. Appointments available from mid-July.

    Dropping off artwork outside of an appointment in not permitted.

    If you are unable to book online or to discuss another drop-off method (such as shipping), please call the Art Exhibition Team on 07 3363 2555 by Friday 24 June.

  • Section 5. Full Terms and Conditions

    1.0 ENTRIES

    • All applications must be received by Sunday 26 June 2022. A completed application includes:
      • an application form completed in full.
      • an $11.00 entry fee payable online.
      • booking an artwork drop-off appointment online.
    • It is the responsibility of the artist to contact RFQ if they are unable to complete their application online - form, payment or appointment, with other arrangements available on request.
    • Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
    • RFQ is not responsible for unreceived forms and it is the responsibility of the artist to check the receipt of applications before the due date. Note: online applications will receive an electronic confirmation.
    • Requests to withdraw an application must be made in writing or by phone.
    • Entry fee refunds will be made for withdrawn entries and artists not selected to exhibit in the 2022 Recovered Futures Art Exhibition at the end of August. Note: refunds are only available electronically.

    2.0 ELIGIBILITY

    • Artwork can include various media such as painting, embroidery, sketches and photography, provided it
      is an eligible entry (as outlined above).
    • D ring hangers and wire/picture hanging cord (polyester) will be the only accepted hanging hardware. Note: artwork fixed with other hanging hooks or fasteners will not be an eligible entry.
    • Framed photographs, digital artwork and prints must be finished with backing tape.

     3.0 ARTWORK DROP-OFF APPOINTMENTS

    • Appointments will occur between 18 July and 5 August 2022 and days/times vary across metropolitan
      and regional locations due to transport deadlines (full details are available on the online booking form).
    • Artwork is delivered to a nominated RFQ location and can’t be dropped off outside of an appointment.
    • Artists living outside the locale can organise with RFQ to transport their artwork at their expense.
    • Drop-off locations include the following Queensland regions: Aspley, Bundaberg, Capalaba, Herston,
      Ipswich, Logan, Maryborough, Redcliffe, Southport, Toowoomba and Yandina.
    • RFQ does not provide appointment reminders and it is the responsibility of the artist to contact RFQ if they cannot meet their artwork drop-off appointment or the broader artwork delivery deadline.
    • All artwork must be clearly labelled with the Artist display name, title, medium and price.
    • RFQ is not responsible for retaining/supplying packaging materials and it’s the responsibility of the artist to ensure artwork is packaged safely for transport. Note: brown gloss packing tape can damage artwork.

     4.0 PRE-SELECTION

    • All entries submitted will be presented for review by the Curator and supported by a selection panel from which works will be selected to exhibit.
    • Artworks will be selected based on eligibility criteria and curatorial considerations including but not limited to concept, workmanship, originality and exhibition fit.
    • The selection panel and Curator may vary eligibility criteria at their discretion.
    • Once the pre-selection process has been completed, all entrants will be advised of the outcome at the end of August 2022.
    • The selection panel and Curator’s decisions are final and no further correspondence will be entered into.

     5.0 PARTICIPATION IN THE EXHIBITION

    • Exhibiting artists will receive further details on participation in the exhibition.
    • Artwork selected for the 2022 Recovered Futures Art Exhibition will be showcased from Saturday 8 to Thursday 13 October in Brisbane City Hall and King George Square and then online until Sunday 30 October.
    • Exhibiting artists will allow their works, artist and artwork statements and artist display name to be reproduced (in whole or in part) by print and electronic media in the advertising and promotion of the exhibition and for the exhibition catalogue.
    • RFQ, in consultation with the Curator, reserves the right to determine the most appropriate method for displaying works and its location in the exhibition.
    • Photos are permitted to be taken of artwork prior to and during the exhibition.

    6.0 ARTWORK SALES

    • RFQ will retain 15% of the sale price as commission on all artworks sold.
    • RFQ will facilitate any sales negotiations in consultation with the artist as they occur.
    • Artwork is first available for sale in-person and then online, with sales closing 30 October 2022.
    • Payments to artists for sold artwork will only be made between 5 and 9 December 2022.
    • Payments are made to individual artists only and it is the responsibility of the artist to ensure bank account details are correct and inform RFQ if they change.
    • RFQ is not the supplier or owner of any goods and acts as an Agent only, receiving a percentage commission on any artworks sold. Note: as an agency transaction, individual artists are responsible for their own tax matters.

     7.0 ARTWORK COLLECTION

    • Artwork not selected to be exhibited will be returned to the nominated RFQ location at RFQ’s earliest convenience. Note: earlier collections can be requested directly from RFQ’s Herston location.
    • Unsold artwork will be returned to the nominated RFQ location in early to mid November.
    • Confirmed collection days/times will be provided as relevant and appropriate by 4 November 2022.
    • Artwork that has not been collected by 2 December 2022 becomes the property of RFQ and its use will be at the sole discretion of RFQ. Note: artists must contact RFQ if this deadline cannot be met.

     8.0 DISCLAIMER

    • While RFQ exercises due care, under no circumstances is RFQ or its representatives, liable for any loss, damage, theft or destruction of artwork whilst in storage, at the event or in transit.
    • RFQ is not liable if extenuating circumstances impact the availability to hold the event as planned.
