Meaningful engagement and involvement with particpant group
We will evaluate:
- Description of likely participants matches the demographic this fund is trying to reach.
- Evidence that the activity provider has engaged with and consulted likely participant groups in designing the proposed activity.
- Evidence that a community group or similar representing the participant group has been involved in the co-design of the activity and ideally can share a leadership role where practicable.
- Evidence that there is a process for supporting the participants in applying learnings, new-found skills or interests within their day-to-day life following the activity.

Appropriateness and value of activity
We will evaluate:
- A clear statement of the activity and desired activity outcomes.
- Activity and proposed outcomes seem achievable for the participant group.
- Activity will be delivered in a way that will be culturally acceptable to participants and their communities.
- Applicant has a clear plan on how to evaluate the effectiveness of the activity and develop ‘lessons learned’ to be shared with the rest of the outdoor sector.
- Options for transfer of skills by participants after the activity proposed by respondent seem feasible.
A detailed description of the activities to be delivered and the desired outcomes. *
A summary of the timing of the activity, how many participants in total and how many days or hours of activity per participant. *
An explanation of how you have ensured activity is appropriate and engaging for participants. *
A description of how you will evaluate participant outcomes. *
A description of how you will consolidate lessons learned about engaging participant groups in outdoor activity and how you would present these learnings to the Outdoor sector. *
A description of how you will help participants transfer or use what they learn on your activity after it is finished. *
Provide a letter or document testifying that the safety management plan for the activity/programme has been reviewed by a credible external safety expert. A credible safety expert could be a professional outdoor auditor, technical expert, or someone with current industry recognised qualification and experience.

- Applicant has a good reputation for quality and safe operation in the outdoor activity sector as evidenced through the provision of testimonials and references and/or past course evaluation/incident data.
- Applicant shows a willingness and commitment to communicate learnings to the rest of the outdoor sector.

We will evaluate:
- Pricing of programme is realistic and monies requested do not exceed the money available in the fund.
- Cost of funding this programme does not preclude Recreation Aotearoa funding other worthy programmes during this financial year.
- Pricing of programme represents a good investment for fund as compared with other applications.
