As a woman, you are dealing monthly with a situation called the menstruation cycle which is accompanied by a syndrome called PMS. On average, A woman spends 3,000 days of her life menstruating. That’s a lot of time to be on your period, especially when you’re also contending with a reproductive condition that causes heavy bleeding, like endometriosis or uterine fibroids.
Some women also experience a condition called dysmenorrhea that causes pain during menstruation which can bring about issues at their work or daily routines. In some countries, leave policies include the period policy. Throughout its history, menstrual leave has been associated with controversy and discrimination against women, with very few countries enacting policies.
