Outstanding Lead Performer recipients are eligible to audition to be one of two participants, one actor & one actress, sent to New York City for nationals.  The National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) is a celebration of outstanding student achievement in high school musical theater. 

Students are eligible to audition if they:

• Receive an 2025 Outstanding Lead Performance Award 
• Are available to go to New York City June 12 – 24, 2026

There is no financial obligation for the students who are chosen to travel to nationals. All travel, accommodation, and food costs will be paid for by NHSMTA and Overture Center.

AUDITION INFORMATION:

In person audition ONLY. 

 Monday, May 25th - 11am

REGISTER BY: May 20th

Prepare:

• 32-bar/1 min solo song from show you received your award

• Minimum of 2 songs for possible call back (musical theater genre)

• Bring contrasting pieces - ballad & up-tempo

• During call backs we are looking to see your range as a performer (vocal & acting range)

• ALL songs need to be from shows that have been on Broadway. 

Eligibility and Requirements:

• Performers are eligible to audition if they received an Outstanding Lead Performance Award
