• Application for the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department

  • Please completely fill out the application and give it to the Fire Chief at the business meeting on the first Thursday of the month 7pm or submit via email to gvfd@granbury.org

    Meetings are held at Station 2 500 Whisperview Cir, Granbury, TX 76048

  • Requirements to Join the GVFD

  • General

  • No criminal background or felony convictions Good physical condition unless applying for support membership status Good mental ability Not currently a member of any other Hood County Fire Department Method of transportation to and from fire station Minimum of 18 years old

  • Membership Types

  • Active -Live inside Granbury city limits for a length of 6 months Reserve - Live outside Granbury city limits and be available during the week for daytime hours. Limited to 15 members.

  • Membership Requirements

  • 1.Six month probationary training period where you will be required to train and test on fire service topics. Rookie training will be scheduled weekly. 2. Attend a minimum of 2 business meetings per quarter, and a minimum of 10 business meetings per year. 3. Attend a minimum of 2 training meetings per quarter, and a minimum of 10 total training meetings per year. 4. Report to a minimum of 30 calls per calendar quarter, 5 of which may be EMS only calls, and report to a minimum of 120 total calls

    for the year, 20 of which may be EMS only calls.

    5. Provide a doctor’s physical from the past two years 6. You must have been a resident for at least 6 months within one mile of the city limits to be active or at least 6 months in Hood.county to be reserve 7.You must read the attached “Conduct and Discipline Policy” and sign the last page stating you have read and understand this policy. 8. Please attach $5.00 to your application for the processing fee

    the Texas Department of Public Safety Secure Website and will be based on name and DOB identifiers I supply. (This is not a consent

    form Authority for this agency is access an individual’s Criminal history data may be found in Texas Government Code 411; Subchapter F.

    Name-based information is not an exact search and only fingerprint record searches represent true identification to criminal history, thermore the organization conducting the criminal history check is not allowed to discuss with me any criminal history record information obtained using this method. The agency may request that I have a fingerprint search performed to clear any misunderstandings based on

    the result of the name and DOB search. Once this process is completes the information on my fingerprint criminal hisory record may be

    In order to complete the process I must make an appointment wiht the Fingerprint Applicant Services of Texas (FAST) as instructed

    online at www.txdps.state.tx.us / Crime Records/ Review of Personal Crimanl History for by calling the DPS Program Venfor at 1-888-

    467-2380, submit a full and complete set of fingerprints, request a copy to be sent to the agency listed below, and pay a fee of $24.95 to the fingerprinting services company.

    This copy must remain on file by your agency. Required for future DPS Audits

  • The Granbury VFD holds training sessions most Thursday nights. Are you able to meet for training on Thursday nights?

    The Granbury VFW holds new member/rookie training on one other night during the week for the duration of that training. You are

    required to complete this training. Are you able to meet for this training?

    Special weekend training sessions are help periodically. Are you willing to attend these sessions?

    Some work is required outside of emergencies to keep the department running efficiently. Are you willing to help us keep the department

    Although every effort will be made to ensure your safety and well being, fire department operations can be stressful, dangerous and time

    consuming. Do you understand this?

    Teamwork is essential for your safety. Do you work well with others?

    Do you have problems with taking orders from ranking officers?

    Do you respond well to criticism?

    Do you take disappointment well?

    Often, this is a thankless job. Do you expect praise, advancement or monetary gain in this department?

    Do you understand that we will do a background check on you?

    Do you understand that if accepted for membership you will be placed on a 6-month probationary period and that your performance and

    participation during the probationary period will determine whether you become a full member in the department?

    Do you understand that during your probationary period you shall not operate a “kojak” light, your flasher or otherwise drive illegally or

    recklessly when responding to calls, and to do so may immediately end your opportunities with the fire department?
