PAWS works to reduce pet overpopulation, help prevent unplanned litters and ensure that every animal in our community has a home.
Through the Last Litter Program, PAWS offers FREE spay surgery for any female cat/dog whose offspring (kittens/puppies) is surrendered to the shelter for our adoption program after weaned. Adult Dog must be under 50 bs.
How it works:

You will work with our Shelter Director to schedule a time for an exam for mother and babies, surrender appointment for your kittens/puppies, and schedule a date for the spay appointment.
- Kittens must be weaned and under 3 months old.
- Puppies Must be weaned and under 10 weeks olf
- There is no surrender fee for kittens/pippies
You can rest easy, PAWS will get your pet’s babies vaccinated, treated for parasites and fleas, spay/neutered, microchipped, and will find them great homes.
The Last Litter program is only open to residents of the town of Appleton, Belmont, Camden, Rockport, Lincolnville, Belfast, Hope, Northport, Searsmont, Liberty, Islesboro and Swanville.
