1. Only Licensed operators are authorized to drive lift trucks. Operators will follow all safety rules, to include wearing a seatbelt if available. A short blast of the horn will be sounded if visibility is limited.
2. The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (ie. safety glasses, steel toed shoes, ear plugs, etc specified by the customer will be used at all times while working at their site.
3. Do not operate equipment without proper authorization, training, and/or supervision. Never attempt to by-pass a safety device. Turn equipment off or disconnect before cleaning. Do not place a part of your body into machinery where it is subject to injury.
4. When lifting an item over 50 pounds or one that is awkward to handle, we recommend the employee ask for assistance or use a lifting device. Do not attempt to lift any item over 70 pounds without help.
5. Practice good housekeeping. Keep the work area clean and tools/equipment in their proper location.
6. Do not distract others while they are operating equipment, performing an inspection, etc.
7. Never walk under a crane or forklift with a suspended load, or under a maintenance high lift in use.
8. Observe and follow all safety signs, posted warnings, and other safety guides.
9. Never use an air hose to blow foreign material off yourself or another person.
10. Do not wear hanging items, including jewelry, that could get caught in equipment. Employees with long hair must put it up when working around machinery or other equipment that could catch hair, such as hand drills and air wrenches. Know and follow the customers' rule about wearing hoods in their facility.
11. Never watch a welding operation without the proper PPE, as the arc can cause eye damage.
12. Only employees that have had the required physical and breathing tests and have been trained in their use are authorized to wear and work in respirators.
13. Running and horseplay are not permitted in or around customer locations, including their parking lot.
14. All accidents or injuries, no matter how small, are to be reported immediately to supervision. This includes eye injuries/particles in the eye.
15. Never handle a chemical without knowing what it is and what is the proper PPE to use. Do not use chemicals from an unlabeled container.
16. Be aware of lift truck operations going on around the work area, when going to the breakroom, etc. Do not step in front of a moving lift truck; it has the right of way. Never assume a lift truck driver sees you and will stop.
