Sportsmen’s Tennis & Enrichment Center (Sportsmen’s) is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to build leaders on the court, in the classroom and in the greater community by providing academic, wellness and social development programs alongside recreational and competitive tennis instruction for youth and adults. Sportsmen’s is committed to improving life opportunities for youth in Boston’s Blue Hill Corridor while welcoming a diverse community from the Greater Boston area. We train, educate and provide competitive and community tennis programs for over 5,000 young people annually, of all races, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds, and we offer adult leagues and lessons, recreational tennis and competitive tournament play. Our facility, which hosts 14 tennis courts, 5 classrooms, a fitness center, and a clubhouse with showers and lockers, is located on 4 acres near the Dorchester/Mattapan line. Sportsmen’s provides and leverages high quality tennis, academic and social programs to engage with youth, improve their academic outcomes, and open doors of opportunity for college and beyond. Founded in 1961, we were the first non-profit tennis club in the United States formed by and for the African-American community. Position Overview
The Manager of Enrichment Programs works closely with the Chief Program Officer to develop and execute programs that meet the academic and social developmental needs of youth within Sportsmen's Tennis & Enrichment Center’s (STEC’s) target demographic: low-income youth and young families in the Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan neighborhoods adjacent to STEC. Program components include but are not limited to: Academic support programs, gender-specific social programs, summer and vacation camps, mentoring programs, community outreach events.
Responsibilities Include
Manage the daily academic and enrichment programs, activities and staff;
Assist with the selection, training, oversight and evaluation of staff to execute Sportsmen’s academic and social programs, including summer camp;
Design and/or approve curriculum, schedules, field trips, etc., that achieve the desired results within Sportsmen’s academic and social programs;
Market Sportsmen’s programs within appropriate cost-effective channels to reach our targeted population.
Reporting Structure
The Manager of Enrichment Programs reports directly to the Chief Program Officer and supervises the Academic, Enrichment and Camp staff.
Required
- Education degree, teaching credentials;
- Excellent organizational, verbal and communication skills;
- Computer literacy including word processing, data management, publishing and email;
- Leadership experience, including staff and classroom supervision;
- Experience working with parents and children with different learning styles;
- Comfort and experience working with diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic populations in an urban environment;
- Knowledge of the Boston social service landscape and the Boston Public Schools
