  • Health

  • The purpose of this section is to help our staff provide assistance and support during your study abroad experience. Health issues may include medical conditions, psychological or emotional concerns, or physical limitations. Mild health issues can become serious under the stresses of living in a foreign country, even if they have been well-controlled at home. Your responses are private and will not affect your acceptance into the program.

  • Course Registration

  •
Our records indicate that your school, {school}{schoolName}, usually requires students to take a Swedish language course. Please contact your school if you are unsure about their current policy.
  • As noted in the Program Policies, you are not permitted to change your initial course registration. Thus, it's important to carefully review the course descriptions, syllabi, prerequisites, and enrollment limits on our website.

It is your responsibility to make sure that your course selections comply with our prerequisities and any applicable requirements set by your home school and major department. This includes finding out whether or not your school requires you to take a Swedish language course.

For courses in economics, students lacking one prerequisite may be able to enroll with permission from the Executive Director. We recognize that courses at your home institution may be organized and titled differently, but cover the same content suggested by our prerequisites. If you need help determining whether your prior coursework fulfills our prerequisites, please contact us at info@swedishprogram.org.

Courses without an asterisk are open to Swedish Program students only. Courses marked with asterisks have the following distinctions:

    * = These are Swedish Program courses that are open to SSE students. Thus, you may share the classroom with Swedish and international students.
** = These are direct enrollment courses offered by SSE.

You may not select more than one direct enrollment course per semester.

  • Independent Study

This course option is only open to full-year students in their second (spring) semester.

Please download our Independent Study Proposal Form and submit the completed form and proposal to admin@swedishprogram.org. There is an additional course fee of $950 to arrange an independent study. Please send your $950 check payable to The Swedish Program to:
    The Swedish Program
    2766 Furbeck Road
    Altamont, New York
    12009
All independent study materials are due by October 5.

You may request a fee waiver if you receive financial aid but your aid doesn't cover the independent study course fee. As noted in the Program Policies, you must submit written verification from your school that this expense is not covered to admin@swedishprogram.org by October 5.

If you need to receive these materials at a different address than the one below, please inform our office at admin@swedishprogram.org.

    2) records regarding an incident of which you have been a victim
    3) records regarding your violation of any federal, state, or local law, or of any rule or policy of The Swedish Program or the local university (unless you are under 21 years of age, such law, rule or policy relates to the use or possession of alcohol or a controlled substance, and The Swedish Program determines that you have committed a disciplinary violation with respect to that use or possession).

You may grant permission to authorized personnel at The Swedish Program to release your records described below and/or the information contained therein to your parent(s) or legal guardians. • Photo and Video Release
I grant permission to The Swedish Program ("the Program”) to take photographs of me during the Program year and use any such photos in the marketing and promotion of the Program. I understand that the photographs will appear only in the Program brochure, on the Program website and on the Program’s social media platforms (including Facebook and Instagram). I understand that such photos will only be taken in a public space, which includes the Stockholm School of Economics, the island of Sandhamn during orientation, on both of the Program’s cultural excursions to the Arctic Circle and Gotland, on planned social activities, any Program reception or dinner, during a study visit, or in any public space in the city of Stockholm. I understand that I will not be paid for the use of the photographs.

  • Fee Waiver
You can request a fee waiver if you receive financial aid but your aid doesn't cover the cultural excursion fees. You must submit verification from your aid office that this expense is not covered to admin@swedishprogram.org by April 1 (fall term) or October 5 (spring term).

As noted in the Program Policies, in accepting this aid, you are committing to attend the excursion(s) for which you have registered. Excursion fees are non-refundable because we immediately begin making financial commitments on your behalf. Consequently, if you decide, for any reason, not to attend the excursion(s) for which you have registered, you will be responsible for the full cost of the excursion fee(s). You will be invoiced upon your decision not to attend the excursion(s). Exceptions will only be granted for emergency medical issues with an attestation from your treating physician.
