  • Mission

We hope that both women and emerging women will be renewed in spirit, mind, soul, and body. My Journey Ladies and Destiny’s Elite Girls will be empowered and inspired as they step into their next level, whether at a technical school or college. Each young lady who competes for the scholarship will be invited to participate in the My Journey Getaway Weekend at no cost. Their essays will be a part of our anthology book project which will be release at the conclusion of our Weekend Getaway Brunch on Sunday, June 2. It is our hope that each graduating senior will be pairs with a mentor to shadowing them during their first year "post" high school.

Three students have been recognized since the conception of the annual scholarship. The scholarship was established in honor of the founder's late husband, LaRue F. McCarty, an educator, coach, and a positive advocate for children whether they were in the classroom or engaged in extracurricular activities. This year we have taken the opportunity a step further by extending our scholarship to include a girl’s mentoring program. We will recognize the top eight scholarship recipients at our My Journey Weekend Getaway. This will be our first year uniting our ladies and youth (ages 14 - 21). We hope to introduce our youth to their purpose or why now!

  • My Journey Weekend Getaway

The foundation for this event is based on the novel: “Olivia’s Journey.” This is the second year for this event. The first year was a virtual connection due to the pandemic, whereas speakers were given the option to choose a chapter in “Olivia’s Journey” and make it her journey. This year, the event will take place on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2. The Plaza has graciously accepted our request for another year! The weekend will include but is not limited to a paint party, vendors, facials, a pajama party, community service, speakers, massages, a fashion talent show and so much more. We desire to have this not only annually, but there will be a connection each month.
