  • VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

    There are numerous positions available and no experience is necessary. We need Table Officials, Marshalls and volunteers to set up, pack up, man the door etc.  Please speak to your sensei to express your interest or contact Kimberley Hymas on kimberleyhymas@gmail.com

    PLEASE NOTE: Should there be insufficient entries for any event programmed; the organising committee reserves the right to combine or cancel divisions.

    ***Please note that the organisers reserve the right to combine or cancel weight divisions (and provide open weight divisions) if necessary.  Divisions will still be split by age.  Please indicate your acceptance by selecting a preference below.

  • General Information

    1. Entry form must be completed honestly, accurately and signed.

    2. Use only one entry form per person.  

    3. Age is determined by the age a competitor will be on 5th August 2022.

    4. If under 18 years-of-age, entry forms must be signed by parent or guardian.

    5. World Karate Federation rules effective from 1st January 2020 will be applied to this tournament and modified at the discretion of the organisers - WKF Rules effective 1st January 2020.  Some events may be officiated using the Mirror Judge System.  *** It will be assumed that by entering this tournament you agree to compete under the set rules

    6. Competitors are responsible for their own Public Liability & Professional Indemnity Insurance including Participation (Member to Member) & Sports Injury/Accident cover.

    7. Children may not enter more than one (1) age category.  Cadets may not enter more than one (1) weight category.

    8. Competitors 45 years of age and above must supply a medical clearance (certificate) to compete in kumite.

    9. The organisers reserve the right to combine or cancel divisions where there are insufficient entries.

    10. Only NCAS qualified coaches will be permitted in the competition area and all coaches must wear club tracksuit.

    11. It is an Australian Karate Federation Inc. condition of entry that any competing athlete or attending coach is not under any current or existing performance enhancing drug sanctions from WADA or the relative agency/s of the country of origin of the competing athlete or attending coach.

  • KUMITE (Compulsory Safety Equipment)

    1. Groin guards (males), mouth guards and AKF or WKF approved red and blue mitts – All competitors.

    2. AKF or WKF approved red and blue combined shin/Instep protectors – All competitors (children, cadets, juniors & seniors).

    3. AKF or WKF approved body protection for all competitors male and female - all ages, plus chest protection for female athletes.  Please note, female athletes 13 years and under do not have to wear chest protection.

    4. AKF or WKF approved helmets - up to and including children (12 & 13 years of age).

    5. Non Australian Karate Federation approved protective equipment may be approved subject to Referees discretion.

  • KATA

    1. PeeWee (u8yrs) - Mixed male/female.  Free choice kata all rounds.  Half-Kata permitted.  May repeat kata in consecutive rounds.

    2. Children (8-13yrs) - Separated into male/female divisions (pending numbers). Round 1 & 2 Pinan/Heien/Goju=Gekisai/Saifa. Round 3 and after free choice (medal rounds always free choice).  May repeat kata, but not in consecutive rounds (A-B-A-B).

    3. Cadets/Juniors (14-17yrs) & Seniors (16+yrs) - Separated into male/female divisions (pending numbers).  Free choice kata. No repeats***

    4. Veterans (35yrs+) divisions - Separated into male/female divisions (pending numbers). Free choice kata. No repeats***

    5. Athletes with a disability - Mixed male/female.  Split by age (pending numbers).  Free choice kata.  No repeats***

    ***Developing athlete rules:  In all age group divisions athletes 7th Kyu and below are permitted to repeat kata in consecutive rounds.

    6. Team Kata - 3 male or 3 female to a team.  Need to be in same age division.  Free choice kata. No repeats. Bunkai required in medal rounds.

    7. Development kata -  4th Kyu (Purple) and below.  Male/Female combined, any age. Free choice kata. May repeat kata.

  • Declaration

  • 1. I have current Insurance consisting of Public Liability & Professional Indemnity including Participation (Member to Member) & Sports Injury/Accident cover.

  • 2. I have read the Rules, General Information & Conditions of Entry, Disclaimer, Definitions and Declaration, understand them and have filled in my form correctly and honestly.

  • 3. Competitors aged 45+ competing in Kumite:  I agree to provide a medical clearance to compete in kumite divisions.  (Please give to Tournament Co-Ordinator prior to, or on the morning of the tournament)

  • Conditions of Entry - Disclaimer

    1. I acknowledge that I have read the definitions set out below.

    2. I hereby acknowledge that my entry and/or participation in the tournament carries with it a significant risk of personal injury.

    3. Therefore, I for myself and the Releasors hereby relinquish, release and/or waive any action against the Releasees for any personal injury sustained by me arising out of and/or in the course of the Tournament whether as a result of any disregard and/or technical breach of any Rules of the Tournament or otherwise. 

    4. In addition, in the event of any action being commenced, I for myself and the Releasors hereby indemnify the Releasees against any cost and damages arising from or connected herewith. 

    5. I hereby authorise AKF Inc. and/or AKF Tasmania Inc. or its nominated representative to capture photographic, digital or other electronic images during the course of this event. I further acknowledge that AKF Inc. and/or AKF Tasmania Inc owns all Intellectual Property rights in respect to these photographic, digital or other electronic images and may, at its sole discretion, publish, display or otherwise use these images for promotional purposes.

    DEFINITIONS:

    a) "Personal Injury" has its ordinary English meaning and includes any injury for which a person might be awarded under General Damages and/or Special Damages at Common Law.

    b) "The Releasors" means the family, dependents, heirs, executors and/or assigns and any person or persons claiming through them.

    c) “The Releasees” means any corporation, association or other body and/or any person(s) jointly and/or severally and whether servants or agents of any of the aforementioned or otherwise where any such corporation, other body or individual is associated with the promotion or conduct of the Tournament and includes competitor(s) referee(s) and observers or members of the audience.

    d) “Any Action” means any claim, right and/or course of action for damages at Common Law or pursuant to any statute.

    e) “The Rules” means the rules for the time being of the Australian Karate Federation Incorporated.
