• Rocky Mountain College Residence Hall Association Executive Board Member Application

  • The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is a student-led organization that helps the voice of residents be heard through regular meetings and programs across campus. RHA offers programs to all residence hall students and is there to help support a positive residence hall experience. All RHA Executive Board Members must live on-campus and be in good academic and conduct standing with the college.

    RHA Executive Board Members are empowered to bring the residential community together and effectively plan events/activities that will gain student interest. RHA Executive Board Members collaborate with their fellow students and peers to discover what the needs of the community are and try to meet those needs. This group promotes peer engagement, expands leadership opportunities, and creates a welcoming environment where all students can feel happy and safe in their residentialcommunity. 

    RHA Executive Board Members are expected to support the goals of the department and the college.  In this position, you must be able to balance both the requirements as a student and an RHA Executive Board Member. This will require a good deal of time management skills.  When other commitments interfere with your duties, it is your responsibility to arrange your other commitments around the requirements and expectations that come with being an RHA Executive Board Member. 

    Commitment:

    RHA Executive Board Members will have a scheduled meeting one (1) time per week to discuss upcoming events and assign responsibilites. Meetings generally last 1 to 2 hours.  The Resident Hall Association meets weekly on Mondays at 7:00 pm. 

    RHA Executive Board Members are expected to attend and help support all RHA sponsored events including management, setup and teardown.  RHA Executive Board Members should expect to spend 3 hours per event.  Most RHA events are scheduled for Wednesday evenings beginning at 7:00 pm.

    RHA Executive Board Members are allowed to pre-arrange two (2) absences with approval from the Residence Life Manager - additional absences will result in a reduction or pay and/or loss of position.  

    Selection: 

    Students are selected to be an RHA Executive Board Member on the basis of their interest in growing as a leader, their compassion for their community, their willingness to learn and grow in the position, and reliabilty.

    Additionally, they must have the ability to maintain satisfactory grades and good standing with the College (not have any pending Rocky Mountain College policy violations). RHA Executive Board Members must be enrolled as full-time students with a grade expectation of 2.5 GPA during each semester of employment.  

    Compensation:

    RHA Executive Board Members will receive a $250.00 stipend at the close of each academic semester.  

  • Executive Board Positions
     
    President: The President is the person in charge of the campus RHA. They work very closely with the RHA advisor. This person conducts the meetings as well as serve on committees that are formed by the RHA Executive Board. This person is one whom other members of the RHA can go for information or assistance. This position requires a person that can work well with the diverse members/students involved in RHA to aid in the resolution issues in enhancing the on-campus experience. Ideally, this person will build strong relationships with ASRMC and other campus organizations.

    Vice President of Business: The VP of Business is the RHA financial manager. This person is responsible for maintaining accurate records, developing and maintaining budgets, resolving financial concerns, and work very closely with all members of the RHA to keep accounts in good standing. He/she needs to be attentive to details, good with numbers, and able to meet specific deadlines. Along with those duties, this position is also in charge in keeping current and accurate minutes of RHA meetings.

    Vice President of Programming: The Vice President of Programming is responsible for providing leadership to the programming committee to host campus wide activities for residence hall students. The Vice President of Programming should be an individual with novel ideas, energy, enthusiasm, and the know-how to get things done. This position strives to work with other offices on campus in order to better help our residents learn about the resources available to them.

    Vice President of Marketing: The Vice President of Marketing is responsible for the creation, editing, printing, and distribution of the RHA portion of the campus newsletters. They help promote and advertise RHA events and activities on campus and throughout the community. They work closely with the Vice President of Programming to provide and advertise wonderful programs for the entire residence hall community. Creativity is a must! Along with those duties, this position is responsible for maintaining the RHA webpage as well as social media postings.
