    Player Code of Conduct Form

  • MCTA believes that participation in Junior Team Tennis assists in promoting the importance of teamwork, effort, goals, and commitment.  JTT is competitive, but winning is not the primary measure of success.  Sportsmanship, respect for participants, and honesty are more important than the outcome. All athletes do not perform at the same level, but all can demonstrate effort, dedication, and fair play.

Most of you fully understand the rules and will comply simply because it is the right thing to do.  Many of you have witnessed unsportsmanlike behavior at youth sports events which leave everyone feeling uncomfortable.  We will always put the players first and will take actions to necessary ensure a positive experience for them.

All grievances should be emailed to hhughes@mctatennis.org. Specific details can be found in the 'Captain's Corner' section of the www.mctatennis.org website.

All players and parents must read, sign and submit the attached Code of Conduct Agreement located on the 2nd page of this letter to MCTA before the player’s first match.

My suggestion is that you submit this form when registering.

Please feel free to contact Stephanie Foster, ksfoster@mctatennis.org, 443.691.4254, if you have questions on any part of the agreement. Thank you and have a great season!!

  • By joining an MCTA/JTT team, parents and players/guardians agree to the following standards:

    (Player)  I Agree to:

    1. Exhibit on-court behavior that reflects positively on my team and MCTA, and to display a high level of sportsmanship at all times.
    2. Make calls (lines, double bounces, foot faults) which are honest and fair. Any ball that I cannot say for certain is out, I agree to call good.
    3. Respect calls made by my opponent. If I feel my opponent  is making bad calls, I will remember that I am the better competitor.
    4. Read and comply with all MCTA and host facility rules, regulations, and policies.
    5. Respect and comply with decisions made by my captain and the JTT Coordinator.
    6. Ask my captain for help during a change over if there is an issue which my opponent and I cannot resolve.  By having a copy of the 2021 MCTA Rules and Procedures on court with me, I am better able to resolve issues.

    (Parent/Guardian)  I Agree to:

    1. When in the presence of JTT players and adults and of host facilities, exhibit behavior that reflects positively on the team and MCTA, and to model a high level of sportsmanship at all times.
    2. Value my player’s individual effort and contribution to the team, rather than focus on wins/losses.
    3. Acknowledge/cheer for well-played points only, not for errors or double faults.
    4. Read and comply with all MCTA and host facility rules, regulations, and policies.
    5. Refrain from engaging any player during a match (exception for 10-under– see MCTA JTT Rules).  I acknowledge that coaching during a match and stepping onto the court during a match are rule violations.  I agree to allow players to make honest mistakes because it is their match.
    6. Respect and comply with decisions made by my captain and the JTT Coordinator.
    7. Make every effort to get my player to an assigned match on time to avoid late penalties or a default.  I agree to accept the penalty or default without question if I and my player arrive late.
    8. Minimize the impact of my presence or that of any spectator accompanying me/my player during a match (i.e., limiting the number of spectators on court; remaining quiet during points; allowing room on the bench for players to sit during a change over).  MCTA and host facilities reserve the right to remove spectators who cause undue distractions.

Failure of a parent/guardian to meet any of the above expectations may result in being asked to leave the court, being barred from attending future matches, or having your team barred from matches at a facility.
