    About the Course
The Skills Certificate in Counselling provides a strong foundation for those wishing to progress onto further training, such as the Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

It equips you with essential knowledge, practical skills, and self-awareness, preparing you for the next stage of your counselling journey—or enabling you to apply these highly transferable skills within your workplace and personal life.

    Duration: 7 months
    Total Hours: 90 hours
    Delivery: Face-to-face (Southend-on-Sea)
On successful completion, you will receive a certificate confirming your hours completed and grade achieved.

The course is delivered by experienced counsellors and trainers, and is aligned with the ethical frameworks and standards of both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.

Upon passing, you will be eligible to apply for the Diploma course to continue your training as a counselling practitioner.

    Assessment
There is no final exam. Assessment is ongoing and based on your engagement and development throughout the course, including:

    • Learning logs (journals)
    • Two skills assessments
    • Participation within the learning environment

You will need basic writing ability and confidence using the internet to complete coursework requirements.

    Course Fees & Payments
    Total Course Cost: £980.00
Deposit: £152.00 (to secure your place)
Remaining Balance: 6 monthly payments of £138.00
    Important Payment Information:

Deposits become non-refundable one month before the course start date.
If you choose to withdraw from the course at any stage, a minimum payment of £490.00 (half the course fee) is still required.
If you have already paid more than £490.00, the additional amount is non-refundable.
If your course has been funded by an external organisation, fees will not be refunded.

    Why this policy exists:
To protect the integrity of the course. Late withdrawals without sufficient payment can impact the viability of the group, including tutor delivery and venue costs. The half-payment policy ensures the course can continue smoothly for all students.

Please ensure you are fully committed before enrolling, as your place impacts the wider group.

Certificates will only be issued once full payment has been received.

The Counselling Training Hub reserves the right to cancel the course. In this unlikely event, a full refund will be provided.

  • Learning Environment: Rules & Boundaries
To create a safe, supportive and respectful learning environment, a set of group rules and boundaries will be in place. These include expectations such as respecting differing views and opinions, maintaining confidentiality, and contributing appropriately within sessions.

Tutors will uphold these standards to ensure that every student feels able to learn, reflect and grow safely.

On the first day, you will have the opportunity to contribute to and shape these group agreements as a cohort.

    Please note:
If a student does not adhere to the agreed rules, or their behaviour is deemed inappropriate or disruptive, tutors reserve the right to withdraw the student from the course. In such cases, no refund will be issued.

    Access & Accessibility
Please be aware that the venue includes stairs, and wheelchair-accessible toilet facilities are not available.

If you have any access needs or would like to discuss how we can support you, please contact:
    Sam – manager@counsellingtraininghub.co.uk

We are happy to explore reasonable adjustments where possible and support you in making an informed decision about attendance.

    Cancellation & Withdrawal Policy
Your deposit is refundable up to one calendar month prior to the course start date.
After this time, the deposit becomes non-refundable.
If you choose to withdraw from the course at any stage:

A minimum of 50% of the course fee (£490.00) remains payable, regardless of completion.
If you have already paid more than £490.00, any additional payments are non-refundable.

Why This Policy Is in Place
Our courses are carefully planned based on group numbers, with commitments to venue costs, tutor time, and overall course delivery.

Late withdrawals without sufficient payment can place the course at risk for the entire group. The 50% fee policy ensures stability, allowing the course to continue as planned and protecting the learning experience for all students.

For this reason, we ask that you are fully certain of your commitment before enrolling, as each place impacts the wider group.
