Instrumental Lessons Application Form

Use this form just to express an interest in learning an instrument or joining one of our Ensembles. We can then advise on opportunities for all instruments, including regular beginner sessions and ensmbles for those with more experience.

We will keep a record of your interest and get in touch to make arrangements for lessons, beginner groups or instrument loans as soon as something is available. Please don't pay anything until you've had a placement confirmed.

Please note that the lower limit for brass & woodwind lessons is Year 3, and strings Year 2.

Following the recent demonstrations of brass instruments in some schools, there may be an opportunity for your child to join a beginner’s brass group at school in the future. The lessons will be paid for by Purbeck Youth Music with instruments provided by the Purbeck Instrument Loan Scheme, and we'll ask for a contribution towards this of £10 per pupil attending.

There needs to be a minimum of 3 for the group to run, and places are limited to 6 (per school). If your child would like to sign up, and once a place has been confirmed, we will be in touch about payment. Places will be allocated on a first come basis.

We are looking at how we can introduce Brass instruments to younger students - it is generally accepted that starting to play brass earlier than Year 3 can be difficult for those without fully formed front teeth!

We'll let you know if there will be an opportunity for an informal 'fun' session, without pressure.

We are gradually introducing opportunies for young musicians to play in an ensemble, giving them the valuable experience of playing together in a group, and working together under the guidance of a professional musician towards a performance or concert.

For Woodwind instruments, there are opportunities opening soon for your child to join a beginner’s group at school with half hour weekly group lessons. The lessons will be paid for by Purbeck Youth Music with instruments provided by the Purbeck Instrument Loan Scheme, and we ask for a contribution towards this of £10 per pupil attending.
