The current sessions will be on Mondays and Thursdays finishing out Rime of the Frostmaiden. Our intention is to end by July and start the Divus Vult campaign in August. Are you willing to playtest with us by finishing Rime of the Frostmaiden with us / are you able to play on Thursdays as well until then?

Unlike most applications, I won't be asking for all the fine details of your character just yet. Until you know more about the lore, you're probably not going to be able to create a character that you'll prefer when it comes to playing. Instead, take this opportunity to review the Game Rules to see what variant rules and homebrew rules are in effect.

The biggest rules to look into are the homebrew feat system, the short rest/long rest healing system, the Exhausted system, honor system and the spell point system. There is no multiclassing. Those can be reviewed if you are selected.

While it might be hard to come up with character concepts now without additional lore, surely you favor certain races, classes, archetypes, personalities, etc. I'm curious to learn about what you lean to below as well.

Sometimes planning is as important as the execution. How often would you prefer to prepare for situations in a session (e.g. planning an attack on a bandit camp, figuring out how to sneak past guards, preparations for sea travel, interrogations with hostages, traveling through mountainous area known for being active with creatures)?

This campaign considers Honor, though it won't be tracked for this particular campaign. In the main Divus Vult campaign, Honor is tracked and is more fleshed out. For this campaign, the only intended purpose of Honor that needs to be considered is Oathbinding, which is a divine bond between someone capable of Oathbinding and the rece

In this setting, magic is restricted in certain kingdoms. Casters that don't have a predefined purpose (such as working as a priest) can be considered a risk to the kingdom and if you are not cautious about its use, you could end up in trouble with the law. Not everywhere is like this but it is important to keep in mind that you can't openly use it everywhere you go. Of course in these areas it just means that it's best if you wait until you're outside city / town limits before casting away.

In this campaign, the homebrew racial changes / lineages are strong, the homebrew feat system is strong, and some of the additional variant rules such as hero points and spell points make for a stronger character as well. This helps to make up for the short rest / long rest rule changes. As a party, you will need to balance your resources since you're effectively getting a long rest only after each two sleep periods. The world of Obidor is unique in that it has a 48-hour day cycle where 24 hours are in daylight and 24 hours are in darkness. The day schedule will be another factor into planning for certain events (e.g. preferring to sneak into a location at night). Because of this day cycle, as well as potentially electing to rest more often in order to meet long rest requirements, the campaign will have many opportunities to complete downtime. Want to work towards crafting a magic item or suit of armor? Spend the afternoon performing for extra coin? Downtime activities will be achievable on a daily basis as well as weekly. For almost all downtime activities, I require at least 8 hours for it to be achieved for the day. That means in a 48-hour day, you could sleep for two 8-hour periods and spend the remaining 32 hours doing four downtime activities!

Would you create a six-page backstory for a level 1 character that ties into numerous side quests, main story, and other player backstories just to never share any of the details of your backstory for over twenty sessions? Strangely specific? Yeah, that's what happened with the previous player. The party missed out on a lot of great roleplay potential and story information because a previous player refused to share any details. I get if you want to keep certain things a secret for a time but it's important to understand that they will be shared at some point. Planning to share your character is great as it allows the party to bond with you more. If you try to stay reserved and don't actively participate, you're going to be a filler player at that point and you won't be contributing positively to the campaign. Can I count on you to create a backstory that will take elements of the lore into account? Perhaps you'd have an interest to have ties (either known or unknown) to other player characters? I am not looking for any players that want to come into my homebrew campaign and say "I wish to play an alien race that came from another planet and I'm an outsider and these civilizations are strange." I wrote lots of lore. Use it to mold a backstory!

Being level seven and a local hero of the realm, there are going to be rumors of who you are. Below, write down the following: 1) Two true rumors about your character 2) Two false rumors about your character 3) One truth that your character would not share with anyone

Choose any level 1 class for this scenario. You are twenty miles outside the nearest settlement or city. You are currently traveling on The Trade Way by horse. You stumble across a caravan cart that has been overturned by bandits and severely damaged. There are only three survivors: an elf that has lost a leg and looks to be bleeding profusely beyond the healing properties of basic healing spells (e.g. Cure Wounds or Healing Word); Finret, a halfling associate that has saved your life more than once; and Sir Fendrus, an exiled human once known as the Hero of the Realm currently in shackles (he is wanted for the murder of a guild merchant and noble). Your horse can only carry one additional person into the nearest settlement or city, which is twenty miles away. What do you do?

Since this is a competitive spot, what can you bring to the table that will outshine the other applicants?

After every session, a post-session questionnaire is posted in Discord that can be filled out at any point during the week. The questions are: "1) What was your favorite DM moment(s)? 2) What was your favorite player moment(s)? 3) What do you hope for in the next session? 4) What can the DM improve on? 5) What can the players improve on?" This helps to reward both DM and players for great moments in the session as well bring up issues that could be improved on. How often would you be willing to fill out the survey?

Would you be capable to have one-on-one encounters outside of the campaign sessions at some point during the week? These sessions would only occur if there are things being performed in downtime activities such as faction missions for renown. It could be a Roll20 scenario (if it required combat) or just a voice chat / text scenario. If you feel you need to explain why (e.g. due to your availability), you may also use the Other box to do so.

Would you be willing to roleplay during the week in roleplay channels on Discord? They would be mostly one-on-one scenarios either between DM and PC or between two PCs to allow for them to roleplay missed moments or moments during downtime (e.g. the party took a long rest at a tavern halfway through the session so PC 1 decides he wants to RP with PC 2 over dinner before everyone went to bed. PC 1 lets party know he is going to wait to RP out of session in the RP channel chat which will help keep the pace of the session).
