• Equine Boarding/Training Agreement for Reaching Strides Equestrian Centre

  • The Equine Boarding Agreement is made this* day of   *   20   *   between Nadine Bollig and Robert Morrison DBA (referred to as “Stable”) located at
    423 Dunmore Rd., Port Hood, Nova Scotia, B0E 2W0 (902) 787-2519
    and    *   (referred to as “Owner”) residing at   *      *   *   * owner of the horse(s) described in Section 2.   

  • Section 1: Fees

  • (A) In consideration of $ * including GST per horse per month paid by the Owner in advance on the first day boarded of each month, the Stable agrees to board said horse beginning*.

  • Section 3: Turnout

    If no options are chosen, the Owner shall be expressly responsible for all exercise and it is understood that the horse will, or will not be turned out as indicated in Section 1. (a). The Owner understands that the Stable cannot be held responsible for any accidents or injuries caused to the horse(s) when turned out with other horses or individually in a paddock. The Owner accepts full responsibility to keep the horse(s) blankets and halter in safe and good working condition with all repairs completed on a timely basis and at the expense of the Owner. If in the case that a halter is lost, the Owner will be notified and requested to provide a replacement halter immediately. If within three (3) days of notification, the Owner has not supplied the Stable with a replacement halter, a halter will be purchased by the Stable and subsequently charged to the Owner.
  • Section 4: Standard of Care

    All Care is provided by the Owner, or Stable agrees to provide normal and reasonable care to maintain the health and well-being of said horse(s) as indicated in Section 1. (a). Any additional feed required such as supplements, vitamins or if more then the average amount of feed for the size and age of the horse(s) is required, is to be provided at the Owner’s expense.

  • Section 5: Training

    The Stable provides ground work and manner training for horses of any age. We provide under saddle training to horses ages (3) and up. Horses are worked five to six days a week. (2) Lessons a week are included in the price of training for the owner. If the owner wishes to participate in more then two sessions a week they will be billed accordingly. Owner is responsible to provide proper fitting tack, grooming gear, halter and lead and any other gear that may be needed while horse(s) is in session. Training fees will be added to monthly board fees.
  • Section 6: Rules and Regulations

    The Owner agrees to abide by and conform to all rules and regulations as determined and posted from time to time by the Stable. The Owner accepts full responsibility for the safety of any of his/her visitors and/or riders they may bring onto the Stable premises, and shall ensure that all visitors abide by such rules and regulations. All riders/drivers, visiting or otherwise, must wear correct and proper headgear and footwear. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Section 7: Risk of Loss

    While the horse is boarded at the Stable, the Stable shall not be liable for any sickness, disease, theft, death or injury suffered by the horse(s) or any other cause of action arising from or connecting to the boarding of this (these) horse(s). All risks are assumed by the Owner. All costs, no matter how catastrophic, connected with boarding are borne by the Owner. The horse(s) and all tack and equipment of the Owner and lodged on the Stable premises shall be at the sole risk of the Owner, who assumes all responsibility for the insuring of the horse(s), tack and equipment owned by him/her, while on the Stable premises.
  • Section 8: Indemnity

    The Owner agrees to carry personal liability insurance coverage on said horse(s).
  • Section 9: Hospital Care

    RSEC also provides Rehabilitation and Hospital Care for Injured horses. Owner is responsible to supply an up to date First Aid kit for the Stables use for their horse. The Stable will provide care for the horse with the assistance of other trained professionals, veterinarian, farrier, massage therapist, etc. All expenses will be billed to the owner and must be paid within (15) days of the service rendered by said professionals.
  • Section 10: Emergency Care

    If medical treatment is needed, the Stable will attempt to contact the Owner, but in the event the Owner is not reached, the Stable has the authority to secure emergency veterinary and/or farrier care. The Owner is responsible to pay all costs relating to this care. The Stable is authorized as the Owner’s agent to arrange billing to the Owner.
  • Section 11: Shoeing and Worming

    The Stable agrees to implement a shoeing and worming program, consistent with recognized standards. Deworming will be done along with the rest of the horses at the stable, unless otherwise needed. Owner is obligated to pay the expenses of such services, including a reasonable stable charge. Such bill shall be paid within fifteen (15) days from the date the bill is submitted to the Owner.
  • Section 12: Coggins Test/Vaccinations

    The horse(s) shall be free from infectious, contagious or transmissible disease. The following documents shall be supplied by the Owner to the Stable prior to the time of delivery: proof of a current and negative Coggins test, (if horse is shipped from out of province) and a health, worming and immunization record. The Stable reserves the right to refuse the horse(s) within three (3) days of date of arrival if not in proper health. All horses boarded are required to be vaccinated with all vet recommended vaccinations.
  • Section 13: Termination

    Either party may terminate this agreement. In the event of a default, the wronged party has the right to recover attorneys’ fees and court costs, resulting from this failure of either party to meet a material term of this agreement.
  • Section 14: Notice

    The Owner agrees to give the Stable A MINIMUM OF ONE (1) MONTH written notice, on the first (1st) day of the month, of departure of the horse(s), or in lieu of the one (1) months written notice the Owner will be billed to that date of departure plus one (1) months boarding fees. Any and all outstanding charges must be paid in full by the Owner before the horse(s) may leave the Stable. The Owner cannot assign this agreement unless the Stable agrees in writing. The Stable reserves the right to notify the Owner within seven (7) days of the horse(s) arrival if the horse(s), in the Stable’s opinion, is (are) deemed dangerous or undesirable for a boarding facility and in such a case, the Owner is responsible for removing the horse(s) within seven (7) days and for all fees incurred during the horse(s) stay at the Stable. After all fees have been paid, the Agreement is concluded.
  • Section 15: Right of Lien

    The Stable has the right of lien as set forth in the law of the Province of Nova Scotia for the amount due for board and additional agreed upon services and shall have the right, without process of law, to retain said horse(s) until the indebtedness is satisfactorily paid in full.
  • Section 16: Board and Training Fees

    All fees are liable to change without notice and are per month. All fees are due on the first day boarded of each month, unless otherwise arranged. Please see our website for the most current price list.

  • Section 17: Agreement for Acceptance of Risk

  • I request permission to participate in horseback riding and other activities at Reaching Strides Equestrian Centre.

    I fully understand that horseback riding/driving, handling and grooming of horses and other stable activities are very dangerous.

    I wish to participate in these activities knowing that they are dangerous.

    I accept and assume all the risks of injury (including death) to me or my property.

    This agreement is subject to the laws of the province of Nova Scotia.
