Journalism Staff Application 2023-24
The Seattle Prep Panther is looking for staff members, and we’re interested in applicants from all grade levels. As a member of the staff, you would be responsible for writing articles, taking pictures, editing content, and laying out pages. No previous experience is necessary. There will also be opportunities for the 2023-24 school year to produce podcasts and video shorts to go on the Panther website. Most of our work is done during Window period, but there are mandatory weekend work days that all staff members must attend (5-6 per year). Please note: This is a class and attendance is required--if accepted onto the staff, you should not plan on meeting with teachers, making up work, etc. during window period. IF YOU ARE APPLYING TO BE A STAFF WRITER: Please write and attach a 300 word news article on an event that occurred recently at school. Your article needs to be informational. You should write in the third person without bias. The article should include quotes from Prep students (not just your friends). Use details to make your article interesting. Be sure to include a headline that is informational and will capture the audience’s attention. Remember that proofreading your work is very important! Before you submit your application, make sure all names and places are spelled correctly. A sloppy or quickly done submission will not earn you a spot on the staff.
